Lots of people like to throw out "350 will hand the SS its ass on a track" comment.
Well, that may very well be true, and in my opinion, the BASE 350 still has the advantage of better tires, and superior top end power. But lots of people tend to forget that GT350 does NOT equal GT350R. Randy Probst really enjoyed driving the GT350TP in the recent MT video, but then went on to say "just don't drive the R first". Well...the base 350 isn't even as track capable as the TP (not to mention I'm fairly certain the SS comes equipped with more standard cooling than the base 350 does). I say throw the brake package on a 1SS and that's it, and pit it against a base GT350 and lets see the outcomes. Lets do 0 - 60, 1/4 mile, and a track comparison. Again, I think the base 350 may have the track advantage and should/could be quicker around a track...but by how much...if at all? Is a $40,000 SS (1SS with brakes) good competition with a $50,000 GT350? I'd love to see this.

That's the first time I have ever seen that video posted!
Great question too. I bet if that video had been posted 325 times, you would be the first person to ask that question. Put a monkey behind the wheel of a 600+ hp car and stupid shit happens. The consensus (if there was one, which there isn't because nobody else has watched this video) is that there was nobody in the passenger seat.

I dont know if it had Recaro seats, but I think the old ones didn't have air bags in them. For the steering air bag, he might have been lucky that it didn't go off since it was probably a Takata one, would be like a shotgun to the face. I really hope Takata goes out of business for putting out a defective product for that long.
