And heres a view of a fireworks show that couldn't be achieved by anything but a quadcopter.

I was watching Chasing Classic Cars late last night and saw this commercial actually implying you should use their drones for spying. Obviously since they used it in the title of the toy as well. Made me think of this thread....(commercial also shows on the website).

Haha, talk about false advertising. Our first quads were Husband X4's, which this a clone of. You can't spy on anything with that. Sounds like swarm of bees. And since it's pretty small, about the size of the palm of your hand, it's not very stable.

But still very fun and a good first quad to get into the hobby.

Instead of shooting one down, what's the law on building a high-powered transmitter with the ability to intercept unmanned flying objects over your property and taking over control of them. As soon as the thing lands on my property, is it not then mine? I mean, possession is nine-tenths of the law, after all...

Can you fly one? What if you crash it into your neighbor's house?

Then one would give control back the the owner and side with your neighbor against him.

I imagine if I ever get to the point that I am capable of building a strong enough transmitter to override someone else's controls, I'll invest some time in learning how to skillfully maneuver a quadcopter

I like those toys, but can't say that I want people flying them over my yard as I'm outside doing whatever. Are there rules since I don't own the air space above my house?, how low can they be flown above me, a foot , 10 feet? I can see That getting pretty annoying if some ahole is buzzing this thing above my head whenever he feels like it

Rules are pretty simple. Drones can fly up to an altitude of 400 feet. You are required to have the drone in sight at all times. Some drones can fly using FPV (First Person View) from the camera on the craft, however technically it isn't allowed. The rules have not been defined for that since it wasn't anticipated by the FAA. That may change within the year as more up to date rules for drones are put in place by the FAA.

Whoever is flying the craft would also need to be in range of the aircraft, and the range is generally less than 1/4 mile (though some craft can use a range extender).

If you saw a drone flying around low level in your backyard...that's dangerous flying. Call 911 and report the craft.
