Hi guys! My name is Jaren, I'm a former crossfit athlete turned body builder. Just finished my cut down from 144 to 122, and now working on a slow reverse diet to get my calories/carbs back up while trying to stay under 130 so I can be in a good place to prep do a competition in the spring.

Welcome! Glad to have you! Curious why did you give CF up for BB? How far did you get in CF? Open, regionals, or games?

I did a lot of opens. I loved Crossfit but a lot of the egos there really got to me and I never got the aesthetics I was really looking for. I train with Team Ledbetter Inc now and I really like it. My coach puts a lot of Crossfit type programming in my workouts but in a way that I get the aesthetics I want.

Are you bb or doing the fitness cat? If your bb and expect to compete you'll be shocked at the size of those ladies even at npc events.

Bikini - I'm a wee bit on the small side. I've been to several shows, I had a friend who competed and I went with her team.
But yeah those BB girls are huge. Heck even some of the figure girls are big.

Interesting. My better half and I train at Richs gym so all members ego's are checked at the door lol.

Some of the coaches asked me to help them with there squat so we squat once a week together. It's a really good, positive, and humble environment. Sorry yours wasn't the same but sounds like you found something you enjoy!

Nice!! That makes such a difference.
Yeah around here my only options are Crossfit boxes or globo gyms. I really wish we had a strength and conditioning type gym around.

Yeah not all boxes are the same. Monique's brothers that he trains at had a 1 week, 2 workout, intro course. Ours was a month 3 times a week.

Our typical WODS generally include something from the crossfire weightlifting website 3x a week so it's not just cardio based WODS. This week we've had a squat, deadlift, and bench workout combined with some other METCON.

I think in years to come you will see CF include more strength based WODS and less endurance, cardio type ones. It's what people want to see and you saw some of it at the games this year vs years past.
