Why would it offend you? It's just slang, just like when we call the mustang a "stang". If you don't like the word then don't use it.

It doesn't offend me. Yet, somehow, it is annoying. Back in the day, no one ever called a Camaro that word. Ever. When someone says it now, they are instantly branded as a clueless newbie.
