I put in Pennzoil Synchromesh which helped a lot. I think it is too heavy for our transmissions which does not let the transmission shift as smooth as I think it could. So I just ordered Royal Purple Synchromax to see if it works better. I do not have any warrantee and have not for the last two years due to my mods. So experimentation is always fun. It will be a week or two until I get to try it out as I have my motor torn down now.

Go to whatever brands website you like and go to FIND AUTHORIZED RETAILER, type your zip, see what pops up, make a couple phone calls. I got lucky and found a Napa dealer 12 miles away that sells the big 4 (Redline, Amsoil, RP, Lucas). Gave me a reason to take the 1LE for a spin and save $$ on shipping and put that towards gas!

I also changed to royal purple in the tranny but used the 75-90 gear oil. The synchro max seemed to be for cars prior to the gen 5, at least from the Royal purple site. That said years ago I had fried a tranny that had run dry and filled with straight mobile 1 engine oil and it magically made it new again. I am salso going to put in the 3.91 gears next week and will use Royal purple there too. The Royal purple high performance engine oil will be next for the engine and yes it is better than spec and does void the warrantee.

If I can't get a "drive onto" lift and have to use the one with "arms" where should I place them (it may be really obvious if I just look)? Any tips or bits of wisdom from those of you who've done this and can make it easier for me? Plastic tubing through the engine compartment for filling? Thanks for the help.
I bought a fluid transfer pump from an auto parts store. There is a thread in the maintenance section that shows our jacking points.

Depends, it could be a couple things. A red milky white cloudy/haze is moisture or assembly lube. Because this is your first change it hard to tell without getting the fluid tested. Also, a reddish dark grey haze is typically from syncro pad wear.

Well, I finally got to change it today!
After 7250 miles, the tranny fluid looked pretty decent, but the differential was another story! It was pretty dirty, it needed to be changed.
The results: it feels smoother! Especially the rear end! I really didn't have any shifting/tranny issues to begin with, just wanted to change out factory fluids. I went with Redline D4.

I finally did mine this weekend, I'm just pissed I waited almost 6 years to do it. Big difference for sure.
