i don't want to bring politics into a forum about camaro's but to the guy who said communism would be a good idea.....sorry thats just insane...
"greed is good" people benefit from greed and profit is the ultimate incentive for innovation... a government monopoly never ever is as good as the free market which us the people control whether it be as wage earners or entrepreneuars who fullfill a good or need in society oil and capitalism is what made this country the greatest country in the world and the price of the commodity is based on the current supply which is not meeting the demand because of developing countries like china india and pakistan who's economies are booming... and the speculators are aware of this thus they are betting on the price to go up and they in escence get a cheaper price when the price goes beyond what they speculated...its not their fault... when you see a sale on say toilet paper for the week and you buy more than usual...Your speculating that the price is going to go up so you buy more toilet paper |

its not just you its the fact that the price of oil makes everything else more expensive as fixed costs go up...which creates a sluggish slow economy...and i mean the price of everything goes up because most items have to be delievered by trucks and airplanes which you guessed it use fuel... this is not a left right issue...its common sense and econ 101 that you raise the supply the bring the price down... unfortunately the democrats and some republicans would prefer to sacrfice our economy and our well being for some environmental precautions that aren't even proven considering we haven't warmed since 1998 and the planet was warmer in years thousands of years before we ever had an industrial revolution...its all a scam to control people and enlarge government power marxism indeed... |

Buy GM stock. If you really want to help GM and make a few bucks, buy some shares of cheap GM and eventually you'll be riding a wave of buyers. Make sure to bail before you lose anything. A good trick is to buy low and sell your original investment when you get it back. That way you break even if your stock loses value later.
GM is not going bankrupt. Don't say crazy stuff like that. Before GM goes bankrupt, expect Chrysler to be sold in pieces since they are far worse off. Remember that Chrysler relies on 70% of its car sales on trucks and SUVs. Ford has less value than GM right now, and nobody is talking about it. The only reason the news is talking about GM stock falling is that GM is considered the world's traditional hegemonic auto company. I expect these concerns are just a bunch of journalists who like their Saturns and are freaking out because they don't know anything about stock values. I may argue with more of you tomorrow. Have a good night.

BUT.... I have to disagree in a couple of areas. I do agree about the fear mongering. I couldn't a imagine a worse decision than to vote in a democrat at this point. GM always goes through these problems. However, gas at 5 bucks is going to destroy the economy. I was worng in thinking the gas problem couldn't get any worse. Here's the thing, Gas make many things in the world go round. Gas effects food prices, energy prices, even prices on electronics and building supplies. The higher the gas, the lest cars are baught, the less cars baught, the less people will commute to got to work, less people going to work,(unemployment goes up) the more wellfare goes up, the more wellfare goes up, the more taxes we pay, the more taxes we pay, the less money we have to spend, the less money we have to spend we don't buy anything other than what we need, there goes your retail stores and there goes your auto industy which is the back bone of this nation. There goes our American Image of fast cars, open roads, and tourist industry. $5 gas means bad bad news. We can't keep up with the rise. We need to drill, we need to produce E85, we need to get to Circuit City, we need to get to Best Buy, we need to get the mall, the movies, the restaurants, the resorts. We need gas to get there, I'd rather pay $4 for corn than gas. More Nuclear power plants. Less congestion means that there are more unemployed people. Nuff said. Chevy many need to change a few things. Such as make the hybrid Tahoes and yukons less expensive, get rid of the mini-van, and make pick-ups more strip down to cut the price and use AFM. And were they not the first Auto manufacturer to propose flex fuel vehicles? I mean just because its always GM that we hear about, Don't you think Dodge and Ford and going through this too? Out duty as Americans is that we need t get educated on what will help and what will hurt us. Also buy American products such as American Cars Such as CAMAROS! I believe we CAN safely drill for oil from the Gulf and Alaska and we could get this under controll in the next 3 years tops. I believe that we can increase the prouction for corn for gas and food. And you know what all this does as well????? Come in people!!!!??? Do you know what a new energy race will do for this country!!!!???? JOBS!!!!! Famrers, engineers!!! Scientists! Remember that there are AMERICAN Oil companies too that people can buy stock in. I think we should rally to buy stock in GM now since it is so low. It will instill faith that this will pass. But not if we sit back and say you want to bring our country to a stand still by not using gas. I don't know where you guys are from but I'm in fricking grid-lock all the time. People has to get to work. In FL, everthing is far. But, this Vote McCain!

It's happend before and will happen again. I don't see all the tree-huggers trying to figure out how to stop the earth from emitting pollution... oh wait, if we figured out a way to stop volcanoes from erupting then they would protest THAT for "interfering" with nature! SHEESH! |

Why why why why why is the only solution to mobility setting old decomposed dinos on fire? Why do we hate the new so much? Why are we so afraid to innovate? If we had half the pioneering spirit the American people had in the late 19th/early 20th centuries we'd be driving around in vehicles propelled by the smiles of puppies and the blood of cats by now. I'd rather go through a few years of hardship now in return for a future with transportation that makes modern gasoline and diesel powered cars look as antiquated as mule-powered canal barges.

Yeah and it took us 4 weeks to unlock the iPhone and Apple said it couldn't be done. It's all the Liberal Hype. The are the true elitists that want to keep getting richer on the lower American economy it's almost like Comunism. It is was too liberal. You tax the rich to give to the poor, and you know what happens? The poor don't get jobs and live off the System. The democrats support the system. I say remove the system or at least stifle it that there are less people receiving welfare and take that money and stick it into more Power Plants and more drilling so that people can get to interviews to get to Jobs.

From that guy who said communism is a good idea, I wholeheartedly agree -at least in this thread. Political debate can be a good diversion sometimes, that also means its distracting and counter productive. So back on topic
GM bankruptcy! continue the discussion.

I even consider biofuels like E85 to be a bit "old tech". I mean shoot, we can make energy using the ocean's waves and tides. Some guy broke the laws of physics and made a new type of water-based fuel cell. I exaggerate when I talk about the smiles of puppies and the blood of cats (though if you feel the need to spill feline blood for the sake of experimentation by all means...) but I think if we really want to improve our lives, we need to look well beyond what we consider remotely conventional now. The ICE has been a good and faithful servant, but, well, the idea is ancient.

Amen. Seriously buy that stock. Yes there is a small chance of bankruptcy (and yes, there is always a chance of that, no matter how well off the company is) but I think the fear is overblown and those who move past the chaos stand to win big.
