VGT -- Welcome
Jan -- Hope the back comes around soon Rick -- You have been busy jumping back and forth across the country Richard -- Have a safe week-end at the show and races Diane -- Have not heard from you on the Tour ?? Must be having fun !! -------- Hope the storms did not damage your car on Sunday night !! Not a good week to be in the minnow business for me. We killed $2000.00 worth of minnows while transporting them. The pressure building valve did not get opened on the liquid oxygen bottle during the haul. Makes one a little sick to your stomach when you see all of them floating. Hope everyone has a great safe week-end. John

Hey Jan, I switched my workout main focus, after my back surgery, to primarily Body Core Exercises. All the smaller support muscles. Got myself one of those round foam rolls, it's about 3 feet long, also one of those inflatable balls. I do lots of balance exercises that really work the core muscles.
Plus I throw in simple things like standing on one foot w/my eyes closed. Goal should be 30 seconds, then switch to the other foot. Sounds simple, but it's not. Also try it with your eyes open, sounds really simple, you should be able to do 2 minutes on each foot. T-pushups are great, I use 10 Lb Dumbbells, and I do my decline pushups always holding Dumbbells because it allows you to dip even lower! Followed by lots of stretching! And my Number One back pain relief, Good Posture! Practice, Practice, Practice. Head up and shoulders back. Slouching makes people look much older, tired, and it gives off that Negative vibe. Good Posture makes people look Energetic, Positive, and Confident. |

Yeah, I am going to get one of the large balls & know pretty much how to use it but how do you use the foam roll? Haven't used it before. I don't think I'll be going to the weight class any more I think it may have been what aggravated it. I will try to catch the yoga class instead when I can. It is currently not offered at a time when I can do it very often.
I slept in a little this morning. I was feeling better last evening but it was hurting this morning again. Maybe because all anti-inflammatory had worn off. I took my Naproxen & it has eased a little. I will take some aspirin in a few min then see if my back will let me do a little detailing of my car. I'm glad I did not drive it last week so it does not need washed, just a little detail spray. If it hurts, fagetaboutit. It will be fine as-is. Sorry about the minnows John.

You can start with lay on your back with the foam roller right in the middle of your back, head to lower back on the roller. You'll use your arms/hands and with knees bent, feet flat, try and balance yourself steady. You can gently rock right/left to get the feel and hang of keeping balanced. Once your comfortable and steady lift your right arm straight up, pointing at the ceiling, and lift and extend out your left leg. Hold for a few seconds then switch sides. It sounds easy, and for the most part it is, it's just getting use to keeping yourself balanced. That takes all your core muscles. Try to do ten times on each side in one set. Work your way up to three sets with a few minutes rest/stretches in between. |

We completed the 260 mile move without an issue. Her cat was frazzled, but all went well. Truck was unloaded in 3 hours and returned. We then ate at a nice deli called Food For Thought. Had the BEST steak salad EVER! We spent the rest of the day arranging furniture and unpacking stuff. My right shoulder hurts.
Tomorrow.we.will.go.shopping for.some needed items, and I will cook Chicken a la King. It'seems weird getting around thiis.city. I am.used to the grid layout of.Phoenix. seems back in the day, someone here drew a.squiggly line on a map and called it a road.

Glad all went well Rick. Happy shopping.
My back is not hurting too badly today so I am going to try to go to a little local car show. If it starts to hurt, we will just leave. It is not like we expect to win anything, just go to hang out with car people & support a good cause. This one is for the boy scouts. Have a great day crew.

I don't think we will be doing many car shows this year. It was okay. Lots of really nice & several pretty rare cars were there. Not many of the club folks showed up, I have a theory about that but will keep it to myself. It was quite hot & really humid. My back gradually started hurting more as the day progressed. None of us won anything which was no surprise given the competition that showed up. By the time awards were over both Mike & I were spent. Mike wanted to leave really quickly which felt rather rude but it was that or drive home separately which would have been okay too as I know the way well, but I was pretty spent to so just went along. I'll post up some pics later & come back & post a link.

Poor minnows and yeah it must be disheartening. This photo is at the VFW in Madison, WI. The BangShift Forum group had a GTG there at their Friday night fish fry.

Glad everyone had a great Saturday. FWIW, we went to The Strip in downtown Pittsburgh and had a great time. I highly recommend breakfast at P&G Pamela's Diner. Afterwards, we walked around the strip and checked out a few shops. Nothing car related, other than Steelers license plates.
![]() Did lots of shopping with my daughter for things she needed. Feeling like the third wheel all day, i stayed behind while my daughter and her boyfriend shopped for TV's. We finished Saturday by hanging pictures on the wall next to the stairs. I suck at hanging pictures. Sitting at the airport now. At least the flight back west from here is shorter than from Baltimore. Looks like I ~may~ be flying back to Maryland in August or September and driving a nice 1966 Impala cross country to Arizona. Road trip pics?

Sounds like a good day & fun times ahead Rick.
I did not feel like messing with the pics last night. Staying home today so I will get them done. The back still hurts. Not as debilitating as some days have been but still not good. I sure wish I could get it better. Happy Sunday 'yall.

Diane --- Camaro Looks great!! Post lots of assorted car pics when you have time.
Jan --- Car shows that judge based on catagories a mile wide are not fun for me either. Just like hanging with car people. Rick --- The 1966 Impala must have the "loooongeeest" rear quarter panel ever made. My oldest brother had two of them that were totalled by other drivers. One was white with a black vinyl top and the other was a light purple "orchid". Both had the classic 1970's look with air shocks, cragers, an 50's on the back. The white one got broadsided by a driver coming out of a parking lot. The purple one met its demise parked on the higway at a 45 degree angle so the headlights could be used by my dads dealership wrecker to retieve a rollover. A drunk in a VW Bug just missed a deputy waving a flashlight and hit the Impala with out braking. The Impala spun around twice and the chrome headlight trim ring from the VW ended up hanging from the trailer hitch on the back of the Impala. Those are my families Impala stories. Painting on the car shed bathroom and bar today. John

We had a very lazy day yesterday just hanging around the house. I am still trying to take it easy on my back. It is still hurting but not unbearable. Mike grilled us some nice steaks yesterday evening. Coffee time & off to work. Here is the link to the car show pics.:
