...in what way is "Idiocracy" a poor film? It's no Citizen Kane or Taxi Driver but why is it a 'bad' film? It's a comedic lampoon of a perceived future. I think 'The Royal Tenenbaums' is Luke Wilson's best picture.

Similarly, I just watched the movie 'Singham'. It has a couple fantastic stunt sequences. But it is a terrible movie; it has no identity. At times it takes itself much too seriously, and at times it wants to be a daffy comedy. Then there's a musical sequence. It's bad, the film producer couldn't meld the themes he wanted to showcase, and instead got a mish-mash of genre. But it's not so "bad it's good'. It's just bad. I can sum up:

The Indian Freddie Mercury saves the day. Mostly by striding towards the camera with a determined look on his face, and occasionally by performing an Air Jordan on somebody's head. And not surprisingly, he can sing. Cue musical scene ten minutes long in which the lead actor lip syncs his own theme song, accept the female lead as plot token, existing to, quite literally, hold Singham's gun while Singham belt-whips evil-doers, roll credits...

memorable scene: Singham tears a lamp post out with one hand and beats a bad guy with it. Technically, he also beats up a jeep with it too.

Pretty much all of Jean-Claude Van Damme's moives have horrible acting, strange one liners and really bad plots. But, that also makes many of the great just the same. I think the same could be said for Steven Seagal films too. No one can flail their arms like Seagal. Lol

In this case, the film was never intended to be a cinematic milestone. As I already mentioned.

Your definition of "bad movie" is "movie you don't personally care for". And when you don't care for it, anybody that doesn't agree doesn't know what they are talking about. The use of lowbrow humor is your axe to grind. Well then I suppose Blazing Saddles is also a "bad" film to you.

That's your boat to float, but I wonder if you can't see how it's an arrogant and assumptive standpoint.
