oh man, i cant wait for motor trend's head 2 head with randy pobst behind the wheel. i have a feeling the z28 will not be dethroned so easily.
z28's little brother, the 1LE, already dealt the 2015 Mustang PP a killing blow. now, its time for z28 to follow suit. |

I think ford already realized they made a huge mistake releasing the new gt pp that was outperformed by the old 1le. I don't think the 350 will go down so easily. I expect it to outperform the z28 with both r and non r versions.
I really hope GM had something cooking...based on cosmetic looks alone...the 350 has the 6th gen covered easily! Hopefully the roles will be reversed on performance. |

I highly doubt Ford didn't know the 1LE was faster than the GTPP. They know most people complain about the ride of the 1LE. They sell far more GTPPs than Chevy sells 1LEs so I don't think beating it was a concern.
Beating the Z/28 is a concern. You can bet they had a Z/28 to run against the GT350R.

That GT350 sounds nasty. Cant wait to see some videos of that thing screaming to 8,000 RPM!!!!!!!!!!! And I don't give a crap about ring times, the 1 time I care about is head 2 head on Laguna Seca with randy Probst doing the driving |

GM did a great job with the LS7 no doubt, but the benefits of the FPC are perfect for its intended use. A flatter torque curve throughout the end of the range and the HP doesn't drop off. Plus the Vodoo will be lighter than the Coyote, thus being lighter than the LS7. It'll rev faster and be able to modulate better in the turns. Should lead to an interesting H2H.

Only 5 seconds? Lol you know the new Z06 beats the Z/28 by 5 seconds at most tracks. I don't think Chevy is going to bring back the z28 and expect whatever camaro to receive the LT4 to make up some ground but hell I think that camaro is going to be the best all around muscle car... Little less HP than the Hellcat but it'll weigh several hundred lbs less and can actually make turns Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

5 seconds would be a butt kicking but that Z28 time is in the rain and I don't think that GT350R time is official. Regardless I don't think anyone should put ANY stock in track times when trying to compare closely matched cars. There are way too many variables. Track conditions, Density Altitude, and most importantly driver make a monumental difference of how fast a car will be around the track. Only way to know what car is truely faster is run them head to head same day and same professional driver.

Also don't compare ring times. Its a gigantic track and getting a clear run on a good day is difficult. Plus there's way too many other variables that could benefit one car or the other. Wait for the motor trend head2head or even the car and driver lightning lap.

Flat Out: An In-Depth Look at the Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang Engine
We Get the Deets on the World’s Largest Flat-Plane-Crank V-8 By Frank Markus | June 03, 2015 Read more: http://wot.motortrend.com/1506_flat_...ng_engine.html It's all-new. Its 5,163 cubic centimeters produce 526 hp at 7,500 rpm and 429 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm, and it revs to 8,250 rpm -- making this Ford's highest-revving V-8 and its highest-output naturally aspirated engine of any type. That's less power but more torque than Ferrari coaxes out of its 4.5-liter V-8 (562 hp at 9,000 rpm and 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm, though that includes ram-air effects at high speed). Of course, Ford wasn't trying to build a 458-fighter. It's building the ultimate track star Mustang, so it designed and engineered this engine from the ground up in Allen Park, Michigan, paying little attention to that prancing horse V-8.See all 54 photos: http://wot.motortrend.com/1506_flat_...take-manifold/ |

I wonder if the GT350 will respond well to any bolt on mods? That will be interesting to see
