I'm guessing some haven't seen the factory CTS-V coupe exhaust

The M4 muffler looks very similar to the ATS-V's

I'm not even going to ask why you are carrying around a spare CTS-V exhaust.

It's not mine, looks like someone wanted to make the point that the whole exhaust could fit in one piece in their Escalade ESV

Now this is how I have seen the coupe's exhaust before, cut up after removal

With all the emphasis on weight reduction, I really do want to know how much this junk weighs. I know, everyone wants a quite Cadillac, but dang there has to some comprise on the performance models.

Anyways, Cadi is not going to steal any BMW customers im sure. When you buy an M car you are buying into the brand and pedigree as much as you're buying into the actual car. Cadi can compete and out compete the M car thats true. It can also persuade new buyers in the segment with purchasing the Cadi over the M car but they will NEVER be able to steal exisiting M car owners im sure.
I'm living evidence to the contrary. Owned an E60 M5 and was ready to drop six figures on an F10 M5...until I drove it. BMW lost its way after the E60, and subsequently lost a customer to Cadillac. The V2 sedan is what the F10 should have been - a drivers car, not a luxo barge 7 series with piped in engine sounds.

The reviews and comments from the auto rags have been lukewarm toward the F80, especially in steering feel and engagement. It's not the drivers car of its predecessors. Given it was only 4 seconds faster around VIR grand west than the outgoing V2 sedan, with newer tires, post-repave and widening, I hesitate to say the Bavarian's have made significant progress on the track that Cadillac can't easily overcome.

Yes the M3/4 will outsell the ATS-V on name recognition, but I doubt it will be the better performance car.

just think about the weight savings on aftermarket exhausts over that thing.

I don't think it'll be as much as you think....unless you replace it with straight pipes...maybe 20 lbs? In the meantime, that unit was very clearly designed to function as part of the aerodynamics package of that car.

Its not just about quietness. Its also about removing unpleasant frequencies & amplifying the nice ones. 6 cylinder engines, for the most part, do not sound good. Giant mufflers like that help

That hasn't been my experience. On N/A V6s the resonators seem to be way more important than then mufflers. Also, most of the (smaller) aftermarket axle backs for the V6 sound better than the (larger) stock ones. On a turbo car, the mufflers and resonators seem to do little to tone, just the loudness.

This car doesn't appear to have anything in the way of resonators.

Nope, unless they are built in to the H-Pipe. It does have turbos.

Also notice the engine noise pumping through the speakers.

"The electronics minimize less desirable frequencies and enhance more enjoyable sounds, then pipe the result through the audio system."
