DMCA and auto industry
Here is the article
https://www.yahoo.com/autos/s/gm-for...160000229.html If this holds true I will never buy a new car from any of these manufactures and GM is on of them. Funny part tesla is against any DMCA . Oh and here is one of the better quotes "What GM, and even tractor companies like John Deere, argues is that you, as an owner, don’t actually own your car. Rather, you’re sort of just borrowing it for an extended amount of time and paying for the rights to use the technology" If this is the way GM is going Then they can Bite me. If I am buying something then I own it. If you think I am just borrowing it when I am paying for it. You are nuts.

Seriously, the 'Big 3' (if you count FCA as a domestic manufacturer) seem to be doing one thing after another to try to lose my business as a customer. Between the reliability issues I've had with GM products, the questionable build quality in several areas of my current Challenger, and laughably bad customer service from the 'Big 3' collectively, if this does indeed come to pass, then this will be one of many straws that break this particular camel's back.
If these manufacturers do somehow end up getting their way, the second it happens (hopefully not, as I'm growing rather fond of my Challenger, despite the fact it wasn't put together as well I would've liked it to be...), I'll be putting in an order for an STI (thankfully Subaru isn't on that list)while putting my Challenger up for sale or trading it, nor I will never buy a vehicle from a manufacturer on that list, new or used, for as long as I live.

I was on Capital Hill last week for a series of meetings with lawmakers and this subject came up several times. The legal issues and implications of this are far reaching and have many people very concerned about the fallout. They are currently exploring fixes to prevent this sort of thing and it is high on the list or priorities.

This would have a huge effect on the car hobby, I hope this does not happen.

This made me think of how get around it. Looks like for a new car you would need to build it yourself as a kit car, Body in white, and make it initially look like something real odd or from the 60's so at least in California, they would go off the motor for smog and registration. Then you would not need air bags or a nanny computer.

If this comes to reality, I will stick to building old cars. I would gladly let GM go under if they push this.
