Hence why employers have opted to outsource to foreign countries.

Eh. I don't care.

Y'all act like you're productive 100% of the time.

Also, isn't it great how this conversation got completely derailed?

Hmm I was productive for 32 years, I'm retired now. I don't need to make excuses...
It's your stupid comment that pushed it in this direction. So if you are not going to add anything constructive about texting and driving please go be bored somewhere else. Thank you.

When you own your business, yes... you're productive all the time (unfortunately, you work a lot of hours). When your employees are not productive all the time that they're on the clock, then you replace them. The good ones go above and beyond, taking on additional work if they finish theirs... and they rise to the top, get promotions and raises, and ultimately add more cars to their personal fleets as a result.

I glance around when sitting at a traffic light and I am amazed at all the people that are looking down. At night, I call them blue faces, they are everywhere!

I spend more time on the forum at work than I do at home. Everything is done on our car lot, and if I'm needed, I spring into action. No big deal!

Unfortunately, the power of smartphones have taken over our society. It will be difficult for people to give up their phones, no matter what local or federal laws say. People will find ways around the laws.
I'm in no way supporting the use of cell phones (as it bothers me too when I see drivers use them while driving) but I'm just speaking what I've observed.
Smartphones offer us great access to information but I think they're slowly dumbing us down too. People can't think for themselves anymore. They have to contact their phone for info, directions, or any "life skill" advice. Directions is one thing that bothers me about driving and smartphones. People can't find their way around cities now without using GPS. What happened to looking for street signs and using maps? I feel it makes to a better driver and much more observant of your surroundings. I always look at a map prior to a road trip so I have a general idea of what to expect. I can stand hearing a synthesized voice telling me to turn right ahead, turn left, etc....

As one who rides a motorcycle several thousand miles a year, I see this often... and much worse.

My favorite so far was the guy watching a video of some sort on an iPad that he was holding up against his steering wheel with both hands while cruising 80mph up I-76.

The only thing that is going to slow down the use of phones while driving is stiffer fines.
Littering in Ca=1000.00
Cell phone ticket=165.00

Texting and driving, When will people learn to stop?
when they are DEAD.....or when either someone close to they dies because they are doing it, or another person kills someone they know, OR THEY kill some while doing it.....
