LS3 Powered Aerobatic Kit Plane!

Hey guys, just bumped into this on youtube and figured I would share because it is pretty cool.

This is a new aerobatic kit/hobby plane based on an existing airframe but now with what the company calls an LS2/LS3 hybrid. They run the engine at 5k rpm and over 400hp. The Chevy small-block is not new to aircraft by any means but I think it's awesome that they are considered reliable enough for such duty. You don't see Coyote motors in aircraft... A big bonus of using the ls series is that the pilot doesn't have to adjust fuel mixture any longer as well.

The thing can sustain a 3,200 feet/min climb which is pretty much rocket territory too.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they are reliable. Since my job is certifying experimental aircraft, I've seen quite a few.

About 90% of all aircraft built with auto engine conversions get changed to aircraft engines within a couple of years after their first flight.
