Want a Subaru BRZ... STi?

It’s a Miracle— Subaru Is Building a BRZ STI

From Boldride by Jeff Perez; April 20, 2015

Rejoice, friends and enthusiasts everywhere. Subaru, in a plan to expand its STI range stateside, is finally building the BRZ STI sports car that everyone and their mother has been begging for.

“The United States is at the highest priority for STI,” STI President Yoshio Hirakawa told Automotive News. “We’d like to create a car that drivers can control like their own legs so they can push the car to the limit.”

That’s definitely good, exciting news— but there is a little bit of bad news to go along with it. According to Hirakawa, we won’t see a BRZ STI for “a couple years.” That gives all you 20-somethings enough time to fill up your piggy banks.

The BRZ STI will take a number of cues from the STI Concept we saw in New York, though, we won’t know any details for another few years. Still, BRZ STI! It’s really happening!

I personally like The BRZ's looks it just lacks in the horsepower department greatly. So if they do make this car I would be a fan of it. I have always liked STI's and would love to see them come out with a BRZ STI.

I have a feeling you'll be able to turbo the normal BRZ for way less than this will cost. But that's just me and the route I would take if the STI version was not turbocharged.

You can buy any car and put a turbo on it, but it would be an awesome car if it came stock with the STI engine. Given the lower weight and more aerodynamic design it would perform very well.

I always loved the STI, except the 2009-2014 years. I just wish they bumped up the power at some point. If it came stock with somewhere between the 350-400 range then it would be the best bang for your buck car in my opinion.

Don't care for the high winged rear spoiler, but other than that I like the body styling!

It's still damn fast and at a relatively low price point for the speed/handling. [2014 numbers very close to the 2015]

Interesting but I dont think I would spend my money on it. May make a very good dedicated track toy one step up from the Mazda Miata's.

I actually almost bought a BRZ instead of my Camaro. Ended up changing my mind and I'm glad that I did. As far as a DD is concerned these things are just too small XD

Sadly the front wheel drive is going to limit what it can do. Everyone else worth noting in that segment (WRX, Golf R, new Focus) have all wheel drive and it buys them not just handling, but grip at the line.
