6.2 Vortec V8

So the 6.2 Vortec V8 is the main engine for GM's SUV's with 403 HP

So my question is why not use the vortec as a proformence engine as well

probably too short of a power band, and the fact that it is tuned for torque and last high-strain engine acrobatics like the ls3...However, I could be wrong...maybe its just a tuning issue.

Weight and size? Fuel economy? Just guesses...

Its possible because the L76 in the G8 is a truck engine but with an LS3 intake manifold and some other small mods because the hood is lower. The taller intakes are designed for creating torque in lower rpm's and such. I say it is very possible the 6.2, I still haven't ruled out any new/current engines in my mind. MMM LS3

something else to keep in mind is that most times the vortech truck motors are iron blocks compared to the aluminum blocks of the LS series, that and different heads, cam, tuning, accessories.

it is possible however to use the motors in a performance aspect, but its not too feasable to throw a heavyweight motor into a midweight car for the sole purpose of having a lot of power. you can make power from any motor. just keep in mind:

Cheap
Fast
Reliable

pick two.
