I'm interested to see what V8 it will be, too. Are they going to unveil something we haven't seen before?

Dear god I hope they don't bring that back. Yeah, it sounds like they are going to have exclusive power plants, and give the reveal with be in Shanghai, I wonder if this means it will be a globally focused V8. Oh, I don't know...say a 4.6L or 4.7L TT?

But I do hope Cadillac gets it's own unique V-8. Not knocking the LT series, but I think the target market for these cars like that "exclusivity" and not sharing an engine with a Corvette and camaro |

I'm not knocking the technology in the Northstar, but had higher than expected warranty claims. It is hard to support an exclusive engine that has too many issues. I do think GM can execute much better this time around, but they should definitely avoid bringing that name back. I'm all for a DOHC, Direct-Injected, small displacement V8 though. It might not fly in China, but Europe will probably eat it up.

Take a trip, you better bring some oil with you. If my Camaro had that motor, I would have not bought it! At the auction, people crank the cars with that motor and let them sit watching for over heating issues, very expensive to repair!

The most memorable alpha-numeric naming schemes have the differentiator as the first part of the name. <number> series (BMW). <letter> class (Mercedes). <letter>TS (Cadillac). <letter> type (Jaguar). It stands out more that way, in my mind. Having the start of the name be the unique part gives it a lot more 'punch', as opposed to starting them all the same way & finishing with something different. Think of our everyday experience dealing with names. We tell each other apart by first name, primarily. When two people share a last name (either family or they happen to have common names like Smith or Jackson) its never really a problem. Because we know one as Mike, the other as David. For the most part, their last name becomes irrelevant. Essentially, their first name becomes their only name. On the other hand, if two people share a first name (like John) we have to take extra effort to tell them apart. One is John, the other Johnny. Or John S & John W. Or Big John/Little John. Or John from accounting & John from HR. Or whatever. Point is, its not as quick or easy to deal with same first names as it is to deal with same last names. In the case of cars, CT# is akin to having everything in the lineup share a first name. John B. John C. John D. John E. It gets very confusing to try and sort all of them out because in our minds, they all have the same name. On the other hand, its not very hard to distinguish between Aaron Smith, Brett Smith, Charlie Smith, David Smith, and Eric Smith. They are all very different in our mind.
