You are right. Is that the oath police officers take in NC?
Ours was different, but essentially said the same thing.

Either way, there were plenty of other options besides lethal force, including letting him go and getting another warrant.

...If you are looking for all of law enforcement to be flawless and perfect in all situations, it's not going to happen....They are human (believe it or not) and capable of making mistakes, intentional or otherwise...

But civilian police, drawn from the public, are still the best way to go...If this is considered murder, so be it....If there are crooked cops, criminal cops, (which is nothing new, btw)...the long-arm of the law will grab them eventually too...

A few bad apples will spoil the whole barrel, as far as public relations go....But it's not worth throwing out the baby with the bath-water...

Well I'm glad this guy will not be spreading his gene pool around anymore....

Breaks the law....doesn't pay child support...runs from the cops when pulled over....

Maybe it is time for a real life Purge!

Tennessee v Garner and I'm LEO. Nothing in the video sits well with me. The former officer looked around to see who had witnessed the actions. He said "He tried to take my taser and that was BS! He went back and retrieved the taser and when the other officer arrived and was over the dying man, he drops the taser in proximity of the body. I'm sure the other officer probably said, I'm not covering you on that taser being there when I arrived and thus, he picked it up. Obviously the in car dash cam was damming as well as they fired the guy immediately and he was charged with murder.
I stand by anyone who is right but when you tarnish the shield you ain't $hyt!

Video or not, how could the officer explain/justify putting 5 or 6 shots in the victim's back?.....and from that long of a distance?....I don't see how any forensic evidence could match any story the officer could come up with...

Lots of Forrest Gumpin' on both sides on this one. One too stupid not to run, the other too stupid to run after him.

North Charleston is in SC, not NC. I agree with you though.

What happened before does not matter. He claimed his life was in danger and it clearly was not.

I'm not sidding with this cop.....I think he's getting what he deserves.....he was a idiot to shot this guy in the back....

But people just saying he should have done nothing I dont agree with.

What if this guy had run into the street causing a mother with kids in min-van to swerve and crash, killing everyone inside....how would you all feel then?
