Important to note something in the article above: CT6 is not the S-class fighter.
As good as CT6 already is, the fact that Cadillac has something in the works to go up against the S-class should have the folks in Stuttgart panicking.

I really hope that their uber-Caddy gets a real name instead of CT8, but I fear that the chances of that actually happening are slim to nil.

It used to stand for Catera Touring in the first gen CTS (the S was for sedan). Not sure if it means anything in the CT# naming scheme

It doesn't, in the press release about the new naming scheme they said they used CT# to leverage the CTS name that was so recognizable as a Cadillac.

That being said, I do like this Caddy. Very luxurious.

I like the exterior a lot. I think the wheel choice is terrible, but other than that the exterior is perfect. Very modern and edgy, but not over the top. The interior leaves a lot to be desired for me. The steering wheel is awful and the dash woodgrain is too broad and flat. I'm disappointed because the tech is awesome and I'm sure it will ride like a dream, but this car just isn't enough to pull me away from a comparable Mercedes. It seems like they took too many points from the BMW minimalist interior playbook and at that point I would just get the BMW. I think it's a great step toward what Cadillac needs to compete there, but it's not quite there yet.

Why is Cadillac still using traditional shifters? Especially in this car?

Amazing to think that this full size ultra luxury car will probably weigh the same or less than a 2016 Camaro SS.
