Death trap? Haven't heard of anyone dying in a hellcat.
They come with 275/40/20 pirelli pzero summer tires.

Nothing new. Original 427 Cobra. Only it had no airbags, crumple zones, traction control, anti-lock brakes...and it was on fairly skinny bias-ply tires.

Everyone who buys one of those things is going to die some day. You do the math.

Yeah in my stock ZL1 with 305's on the back I have a hard time hooking up in 1st and 2nd gear and in temperatures less than 50 just forget about it. Hellcat has a lot more HP, skinnier tires and some come standard with all season with have no traction at all. Seems like too much power for what it's riding on.

I know the purpose of the car is to just be a straight line monster, but it just seems inevitable with that much power poor traction that an accident is just waiting to happen. I sure hope not, but just seems that way.

Any vehicle can be a death trap, all depends on the dummy behind the wheel. Motorcycles are more of a "death trap" than any car.

My personal experience with Dodges is that the transmission will go out before something happens to you

We are all going to die someday , why not die doing something or driving something that you love?

Any vehicle that you can not control can be an accident waiting to happen. However walking, sitting or anything else you can die at also. So go live for now,... eyes open and sometimes your mouth shut....put the pedal to the metal, live fast and never ever forget were you came from...I think thats how dodge put it.

There have been three totalled hellcats since December which really isn't that high of a number considering the HP. They're just such a high profile car right now that when one gets wrecked the news spreads fast.

Viperes were same way when they first came out. Too many people with extra cash and not enough driving sense. If you look for a silver lining the more wrecked means the more extra parts on the market to upgrade normal challengers. Sounds bad but parts is parts.

Yeah those older vipers were just rocket ships on wheels with no safety features. The hellcat has so much more technology and traction control management of course.
