appreciate it, I have been driving mine very lightly since putting it on, will be taking it for some spirited driving tomorrow. nice to know there is a nice performance gain even though I bought it primarily because I thought it looked cool. best of both worlds

never weighed either but to me the new one felt a slight bit smaller, but not a major difference IMO.

I looked into it when I got my Z/28 CAI. It was a restricted item, so the answer is no, but the stock SS hood does seal the top of the Z/28 CAI.

Thank You CreeperRS for the dyno pulls. Your results may shut a few chirping mouths and open a few new ones!

I too bought mine on fit, finish and quality. Realistically, most of the other aftermarket CAIs are not that special. They all add power and I was OK to give up a couple (if I was to believe the anti-Z/28 CAI crowd)

That blows...it will not seal if you remove the hood liner on our 1LEs.

Great job on posting the results!

I can't believe we're now actually discussing the weight differences between units....wow.

Take some strip foam and glue it to the inside of the hood so it matches the outline of the filter housing. Another thing you all might want to think about, after looking at mine I can see a pathway for hot air to get into box on the left side (driver's side), I'm going to slide a piece of high density foam along side the filter box and wheel well. This will help keep hot air out of box for standing still and low speed launches.

No problem, thanks. I didn't get a chance to weight them, as I don't have a scale. It's roughly the same dimensions as compared to the stock unit.

You're welcome, this will definitely keep people talking, hate or love it this intake performs, I feel it, hear it, and now I can prove it. Thanks everyone for your positive remarks.

I think you don't need it, but it's your call. I drove 45 miles from Tijuana to San Diego, when I got back I opened the hood touched the intake filter and found it cool. The side of the filter where the Z28 logo is, was completely cold. I think it works fine the way it is.

Great Numbers, I feel mine picked up a few and much more power.

Question, Why did you recommend to unplug the power before removing and installing intake. I did mine without doing this and have no issues.

Compared to stock the air intake ID is much bigger. Plus friends with other makes of vehicles are impressed with the size of the filter and quality of the product. People are shocked when I tell them its OEM.
