Has anyone actively started a thread on calorie trackers or weight loss that's still active? I have a bet going with the guys at work on who can lose the most weight within 6 months, more than anything to help push each other and have fun with it. It would be cool to do the same thing on here.

I started this one but it sort of fell out of use. I'll bump it. Let's keep it going this time. I need some support too.

I have another 100 to go to reach my goal weight (I was over 400lbs when I started).

I am lucky that the new company I started with in July 2013 has an in house gym and I can work out before and/or after work now without any excuses.

I am up to a medium fast walk about 5 mph consistent for 6 miles a day along with weight workouts.

It's been hard because I have some injuries that severely limit what I can do, but at my last job I worked 12-14 hours a day and gained over 200lbs in the 8 years I was there because of the stress and horrible eating habits I developed because of my work schedule and it was killing me, I changed jobs and changed my life.

I use the fitbit as a constant reminder to get up and move, though I can't sleep with it on, bugs me to have it on my wrist when I sleep.

There are several apps that work in conjunction with it, personally I am holding out for the Apple watch to replace my fitbit as it will have a lot more options and things to track without using multiple devices like heart rate monitors and such.

Keep up the great work! No matter how slow or fast you do what you are doing, the fact you are doing it at all is what matters. Keep your head up and your heart light, as one day at a time is all you can do.

They do have a model of the fitbit that monitors heart rate and GPS, steps walked, etc...just in case you didn't know..

Fitbit is great, and what is even better is the ability to link up with friends. I do cardio and weights after work and I usually try to hit around 10-11k steps in the day. One of my friends challenged me to the 24 hour fitbit step challenge. I'm a bit competitive so I refused to lose. And as a result this happened.. Peer pressure is good, lol.

Edit: I guess the link does not work. Go to Activity Groups and search for Camaro5.com Members

I think the best part about the fitbit is competing with friends.

Is anyone using the fitbit? Are you on their forum? Any tips or pointers from folks using them a while. Wanna network & help, support & motivate each other?

Of course, I an RubyCamaro on their forum.
So let me get this straight....

You got a gadget to "help you" with your weight loss, and you joined "their forum" for "help, support, and motivation".....

See what the problem is here?

Wait for it....it's coming....

yeah I know, have to have a chest strap for the heart rate..

I would like to see one that monitors heart and BP from a wrist gadget, Apple promised all that, but the latest news is they won't have it on the first release. Typical Apple, promise the world and then say it will take a year or two to perfect it, but buy our $hit anyway and upgrade to a new one every 6 months..

I only use the fitbit because it is a constant reminder to me, I use it for the motivation.

I will say that using it and the myfitnesspal app have greatly changed my eating habits, which where the biggest problem for me.

it wasn't "over eating" per-say, but not eating all day while at work, then porking down 3000+ calories in one meal @ 9pm and going to bed @ 10pm and doing it all over the next day.

On my days off I would sleep 15-18 hours and I had no motivation to do anything.

now I sleep 7-8 hours and I wake up at the same time everyday without an alarm clock, I eat 5 small meals a day keeping the calorie intake at or below my requirement; myfitnesspal tell you this based on height/weight/workout.

it took 8 years of bad habits to gain the weight, so I know it will take time to get rid of it, but it is happening, and I can see and feel the results, the fitbit is a reminder to keep going.

hmm, hadn't seen that one.. $250 though.. not sure it is worth it just for the heart rate.. if it also did BP I might consider.

I'll keep my flex for now, but thanks for the link.
