I always thought I got tailgated a lot more in the Camaro than in the Outback. Which made no sense. Then I started to wonder if it just seemed that way because of the, shall we say, limited rearward visibility in the Camaro.

So I was going to test this but never did... how close does a car have to follow for its headlights to not be visible. Maybe it's farther than it seems?

To stay on topic... I gradually slow down or just pull over if there's another lane.

I stomp on it after kicking it down and embarrass them badly, then if they still want to tail gate I will do it again, and if they want to harass me I will slow way down, or act like I will take them out. Tail gating is dangerous, its reckless endangering the lives of everyone and I never do it, I would rather speed to get away from them than have anyone that close. To brake check is to invite a accident if they are really that close, and also is reckless if you think about it as if they are not paying attention they can loose control or rear end you. If I had my gun I would press it sideways to the window but that would also be interpreted as illegal for showing someone I will defend my space and life.

Really there is about nothing more annoying than a tailgater except the little cars that think they have a right to whip into your safety cushion you keep to the front. They deserve the finger, but usually I have to just watch as they parade in tailgating and wish they would get ticketed. I do what I can to deny someone I think is aggressively driving to pass me on the right and then take up a place in my safety cushion, even to the point of turning off my dual mode exhaust to straight pipe with my Mild to Wild switch and pressing in the clutch to rev the engine while on the freeway to make my point and tighten up my gap if needed. Some people are just plain rude and think they are the fat and the furious whipping through cars without signaling. Those are also the most dangerous idiots around.
Just a note to those here: I had my wife tell me she saw one of the ricers who live by us pulled over getting a ticket on the main street by where we live with the officer flailing his arms around..... there was a school bus nearby letting off kids. These ricers in our little association area in their little cars live and drive as a pack some times, they have left little tire marks on the street and have loud mufflers on their hooptie rides that are not anything special.

They would sometimes drive by my house and rev their little engines and almost always speed though here as the speed limit is supposed to be 10.... Yah right I figure I can barely limp that speed myself. The point is: If I ever see them on the street I go out of my to either avoid or show them I can blow their doors off within the speed limit on a more major thoroughfare . And even living a block and a half away I can stoke up my engine in the driveway, ( usually I just stay on quiet creep out mode), and it should humble them.

Invisible and ignore most of the time - though I am fully aware they are there. I don't weave in and out of traffic and I keep my distance from the vehicle in front of me, so eventually they go around me... these days, people are keeping their distance, especially since installing the 315's... its a psych thing, I guess... Should anyone persist, however, i'll pull away...

That seems like a good idea.

I don't get tailgated much on multilane roads. I am polite when I see a person going more then the 5-10 over I am comfortable with coming up on me even when I am passing slower traffic I will merge over let the by then get back out to pass the slow traffic my self. I actually like having a lead foot ahead of me clearing the way for speed traps.

My aggravation comes on a single lane road I go 0-10 over on back roads depending on conditions and jurisdiction and I get up to speed quickly. If someone rides my ass on those roads I drop to 5 under the limit and let them stew.

Side note I hate idiots that drive around behind cars with their hi beams on. Hello idiot you are blinding the person in front of you that gets 10 under or I just pull over.

I just can't do that. I figure they are tailgating because they are busy texting, phoning, etc., and not really paying full attention to their driving. Don't want to risk them ramming me if I have to stop fast.

Best option.

I wouldn't use the widow cleaner unless I absolutely had to.
To clean the windshield from obstructed vision while driving.
While you may think it's funny to overspray the following car, your also overspraying your car, and removing wax/sealant on your clearcoat.

You could also cause an accident behind you, it's possible that someone behind you may have faulty windshield wipers, and you could impair their vision.

Visibility is low from the rear view mirror of gen5 camaros, A vehicle can be further away from you than it actually appears from driver's seat view.

Moving over just encourages them to keep doing it. They get what they want. As long as I am doing the speed limit or over and there are other cars in front of me I ignore them. I have seen it too many times when they tailgate someone and that person moves over they will just tailgate the next car too. If nobody is in front of me I will start slowing down until they decide to go around.

Ignore and move on down the road....it's hard sometimes, but you never know who is behind you and what issues they may have. It's just not worth it. Today, down a busy city road, some idiot in a Charger R/T was flashing his lights at me and tailgating- anyone needing to try that hard is overcompensating for something - I'm confident in my ride and what it can do.

For me... I give them minute to figure out they are too close. After that foot comes the gas completely until they go around. I have had some stubborn drivers where I have had to bring it to a complete stop. I will note... I don't attempt that move in the Camaro. In that case I normally move over. I don't need some nut job hitting me.
