Or, I could have discovered that the Mustang would get a 3.7L Duratec V6 for the 2011 model year when media outlets like Automobile Magazine began reporting that Ford has confirmed that this very engine will be available in the Mustang for the 2011 model year. http://rumors.automobilemag.com/6522...v-6/index.html But then again, I can actually use basic tools like search engines folder facts like these easily, a 'problem' you don't seem to have. ![]() To be fair though, you could have been referring to my assertion that the 3.7L will make the base Mustang lighter than the current model and improve overall balance. Again, I can see where you might think I am going out on a limb here since the only existing information upon which I could base such a claim is widely known reality that the existing and extremely large, cast iron 4.0L Cologne V6 weighs significantly more than the likewise existing all aluminum 3.7L V6. Such a narrow focus leaves out many possibilities. Ford could be designing a completely new and significantly heavier 3.7L V6 for Mustang duty, or they could be adding lead ballasts to the 2011 Mustang to make up for the undesirable weight loss the 3.7L V6 will bring to the car. Even more, it was equally unfair to assume that, since the 3.7L already produces 275hp and 270lb-ft of torque on regular unleaded, the newer, second generation version employed in the Mustang would at least match this. It is plausible that Ford would decide to detune an already modestly tuned engine currently serving duty in a relatively mundane luxury sedan for duty in a sporty coupe evn though such a move wouldn't improve fuel economy.. I apologize for confusing you with facts and logic. |

I don't doubt that the Mustang will be a great car; I think it already is. However, I don't find it a good strategy to believe the best case scenario for everything before anything has even been announced. |

I have this on my car and is it an amazing differance over stock. There are 3 settings road/road&track/track. Mine is set to road&track. You do feel every bump in the road but the handling is well worth it. I've taken some tight corners and glanzed down at the speedo and said to myself, man I'm doing 70mph on a 35mph posted turn. It never felt for a minute it was being pushed. I highly recommend it to other Mustang GT guys. I generally don't bash other cars except when someone is putting my car down. I think it is great to see the American muscle cars come back strong and with style. I wish I was rich I would have all 3 new muscle cars in my garage. |

is there any reason to think they might bump it up 300 hp to match camaro ??
something about this makes me think they might Ford had to revise the engine for longitudinal placement in the Mustang, revisions that included a new intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, and accessory drive system. The final outputs will differ from the Lincoln's numbers, and we're guessing the engine will be slightly more potent in the Mustang application. |

As for a 300hp rating. Nothing is impossible, but I am looking for 280-290hp, which should be plenty in a Mustang which should come in under 3300lb. |
