Who in they right mind would think a tune GTI or a Honda with a k20 engine ... and other's not worth mentioning could keep up with a cheaply modded Camaro, Mustang, corvette, GT500 -etc

You don't know how bad I had to bite my lip yesterday, they made me look like a fool .... that I didn't know what I was talking about, I think I should change my class for I end up breaking somebody's neck !!!!!!!

By the way your post mentioned german cars so why are you calling german vehicles ricers. just for your info they are not made in japan. thats why they are called GERMAN. now the word import makes more sence

And there was a bunch of us that wanted to tell them to shut the hell up, but no one had the nuts to say something, I said what needed to be said, and got ganged up to the point I said you win .....

After I said I give, one of them stared questioning my intelligence " Are you the type who believe that if you stuff a big V8 in anything it's fast"

That's when I got angry, but said to a certain extent, and left it at that

I was so angry that when it came time to leave, I peeled out in the parking lot in front of them ... that pissed them off ...

Next day I got a bunch of strange looks from them, and the only thing I can do is pity them

in general terms german car companies make better cars. that does not mean every one is better but the top end is much higher on the german cars, but around the same on the low end. Stock for stock you can pretty much get a better equipped car at every price-point from the germans, but there are some exceptions

Ok i am sorry. miss understood the whole thing. but yeah i see that is bull shit with the two cars they are comparing. let them be thick headed and go your way, i have the same arguments at work cause i have honda lovers and also with my bro. but first off a few guys got there ass handed to them with there hondas up against my tc with slight mods so they bring out the bigger cars like a supercharged infinity, but now that i have the camaro he wont bring it.

yeah and that is still a POS old beat honda... I will take the "slow" supra over it anyday

same with people in 20k cars that are beating ferraris and stuff, at the end of the day you are still in a honda

I always run into people like that. Hell, some of my closest friends are the same way.

The best thing ever is when GM or Ford launches some new amazing product and you rub it in their faces, leaving them absolutely speechless and left with lame excuses. My friend's still in denial over the CTS-V and refuses to accept that it's faster than his dad's M5.

It's just not worth arguing about. Tell your friends you'll meet them at the local dragstrip on the after school or test and tune day.

If there's anything I've learned from forums it's: you aren't convincing anyone of anything until they see it with their own eyes.

Plus 8 grand in engine investments is pretty steep. I wouldn't bet pink slips on a k20 w/8 grand vs a stock Camaro. 8k would get you a 400hp <3000lb Honda. (before someone jumps my sh1t on this, no I'm not defending Honda, nor saying it's a good investment blah blah balh or anything- just keepin' it real)

German cars aren't just off the line power they are better driving cars. They handle much better than most American cars and their interiors are waayy ahead of most domestic and Japanese autos. I have owned all three and everyone of them has their good and bad. Don't get why there's soo much hatred towards foreign made cars.

You guys have to realize that you are comparing BMW/MER/FERR/Lambo to Americas mass produced middle of the road cars. Try comparing dollar for dollar and you will see the quality gap disappear. Remeber europe produces tons of shit quailty cars that we dont see here. Not everybody there is driving around in a BMW or Mercedes.

I just bought an M5 and I will say, it is a wonderful car that drives better than the Corvette it replaced. With that said, my 500 horse V10 gets around 12-14 in mixed driving, where my 400 Horse Corvette always managed in the 20's. The BMW handles better than my Corvette did, and has more 'toys' in it. That said: The BMW M5 was over $100,000 after taxes. The Corvette can be had for less than $50,000 new out the door. I can overlook a couple of things for $50,000 in my pocket! (I bought mine used btw...I don't have THAT kind of coin!)

American cars, bang for the buck and styling beat the Japanese cars all day long, and run with many of the big dogs from Europe without a problem. American cars have a little ways to go in interior quality and fit and finish to match the euro cars, but again, look at the price points. A 2SS/RS Camaro with everything is at or under $40k, where a BMW to come close to that is near $62k! That is a lot of car for $40k...and I have $26,000 reasons to overlook a panel gap here or a power window switch that doesn't 'clink' in place like the BMW. I have always found Japanese cars to be too lightweight and tinny for my tastes, so I do not respect them or find them really worth comparing. Yeah, they get mad horsepower from a 1.8 liter...yippie - still a death trap in my opinion.

Your freinds are morons, and they will be quieted when the meet up with the wrong car on the wrong deserted road or racetrack. Tell them all to shut up, put their money into the car of their choice and show everyone what it is they are saying is true. Nothing speaks louder than actions.
