really interested in this ever since I was watching CNN earlier. THEY GOT ME HOOKED!
The Obozo administration will not ban flights to or from Africa because the Republicans want it.

My bad for bringing up politics, but sometimes things are political.

Sometimes you can also make a point without denigrating someone and making it political...which is what you did.

As PMC said, please try to keep this thread from going political.

As much as I would like to see a travel ban, and on the surface it sounds like a solution, the catch would be that not all countries, and airlines, would do the same....Meaning, possibly infected travelers would simply take a more long-winded and circuitous route to get to their destination, and would lie about any pertinent information regarding their history for sure....

Completely isolate a nation or region, and it will implode for sure, making the situation world-wide even worse....

A travel ban, I say not an answer....but travel "restrictions", monitoring, possible quarantine on both ends before and after travel might help stop it's spread....

seen this video going around on Facebook and everyone claiming he is full of it. Sounds like what he is saying is plausible. I only recently started investigating this because my daughter came home from school scared today because the teacher was discussing it with her class before recess.

Also DAMN I didn't know flu was that bad and affected so many people every year.

Damn...52k people per year from the flu? WOW. Sounds much worse than ebola. But...what ebola does to you is just plain scarier....ewww... liquified organs. No thanks.

Hate when people use the more people die from the flu every year crap. Its miss leading at best lies at worst. I attached the study/statement on the flu from the CDC in which they admit nearly all those deaths are from complications from other health problems being exacerbated by the flu, also that 90 percent of those people are elderly over 65 which is a high at risk health group. healthy people dont die from getting the Flu. Also they admit that they numbers are an educated guess because the dont really track case of flu caused deaths of people over 18.

http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/disease...ted_deaths.htm

"In addition, the study confirmed previous findings that about 90% of influenza associated deaths occur among adults 65 years and older." quote from that link to the CDC.

Its like when insurance companies say to be careful near home because most car accidents happen within 10 miles of your house. Well no S**t that's where I drive the most. Here a fact for my insurance company I will never get in a car accident in japan or china or Russia or Africa because I don't drive there.

Much of what he says is true. The problem is, human error is what's caused a lot of the problems there in Dallas. Properly protected, you can treat Ebola. The problem is that there were obvious failures in Dallas. Really, a comedy of errors when you really look at it (and no one is laughing).

From the hospital not being prepared to identify and isolate an Ebola patient to nurses not really being trained to gear up properly to letting those treating the patient walk away with no controls except self monitoring. Though it's doubtful it spread to anyone on the airplanes...it easily could have. They are not looking into the first plane the nurse said just to be safe....even though "they" said there was no possibility of it spreading on the second plane she took because "they" say she wasn't exhibiting symptoms.

For me, this is less about panic at this time...than how pitiful our response to this has been from the start. That's what is scary is that this scenario has been out there for many years, hospitals were supposed to be trained...yet obviously they weren't. What other errors are we going to see? That's what scares me.

I did buy some MRE's (really more for general disaster preparedness), and will be putting an emergency kit together not just for Ebola, but for floods, tornados and hurricanes. Essentially, I'm getting ready for the Zombie Apocalypse (my euphemism for any huge emergency in which you'd need to survive for 2-4 weeks without outside assistance.

I think I'm also going to go buy/build one of these!!

Stevve Dallas,

Only problem I see with that house is they cheaped out on the landscaping. Should be that new Field turf the NFL stadiums are using. You know, you have to lock down for few months for a zombie out break who wants to open back up to the lawn all overgrown looking like crap. Just saying if your all in go all in or could just pave it and paint it green thats my kinda lawn.

I'd settle for one of these:

Tornados are much more likely & It could serve other purposes if need be.
