That is surprising. If they delayed orders because tweaks were needed in the 707 HP mode to meet emissions, what does that mean for the earlier 10.8 and 11.2 sec 1/4 mile claims? All this press and they are still screwing around with the tune?

I think that 11.7 @125 is the closest representation that we are going to see for right now of what the hellcat will do on the streets since that was a totally unprepared surface.

however that trap speed of 125 is very scary, and when you get wide drag tires on the back of it it's going to be extremely hard to catch

The way I undestand it is that initial testing with the new engine resulted in 800+ hp but the car wouldn't meet emission standards, they then dialed it back to 707 in order to meet the standards. Probably reduced boost via pulley size.

Maybe this is BS as I haven't seen it reported anywhere else but this article did point at the red key mode pretty specifically.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat isn’t all good news... the company is having some “extreme issues” when trying to meet some emission requirements while set to the 700+ horsepower mode...

...While it isn’t hard to see a 707+ horsepower engine failing to meet emission requirements, this comes as a surprise to me as the company certainly had these regulations in mind during the developmental stages of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat....

....definitely could have been the cause for the delay in Hellcat orders from when they were first rumored to begin to when they actually began.

I'm sure GM pushed the LSA past 580 as well and we've seen 700rwhp being made reliably, so the 825 number means little to me. But if the, "the company is having some “extreme issues” when trying to meet some emission requirements while set to the 700+ horsepower mode" comment is indeed true, this will be a huge slap in the face to Dodge.
