If we need to call and yell at your "1...2...3... again....1....2...3..", we will. It does make it easier when you are with others, as you push them, they push you. I am pushing and challenging Bonnie, and I can add you to the list. Hit me on FB if you are on it and I will push you along too. Also, Bonnie is great at inspiring! |

Yeah, I'm on Facebook. I don't post as much there as it is monitored by insurance & my work, but I'm there. Yeah, I miss Bonnie posting on C5 (only rarely now). Janice Moore on Facebook. There are a couple of us but you'll recognize my pic.

I'm still sore from washing the car yesterday & a few leg exercises. I walked the hall at work today for about 20 min & closed my door & danced to a couple or line dance exercise videos. Then when I got home did some upper body work with weights. I plan to get up early in the morning & go out for a run (if it is not already too oppressively hot/humid) then do some core work & some leg work. It is a start.
I had 2 eggs with onions & green peppers & coffee with 1/4 c powdered milk & a 1/2 tsp cocoa powder for breakfast. I had a Van's Cranberry Almond snack bar (I know, it has too much sugar but I have to use them up & get more groceries), an Amy's entrée for lunch (see below), 1/2 of a Think Thin High Protien Chocolate Fudge Bar, a couple of my chocolate cookies, and water to drink during the day. Mike cooked stir fry with green & red peppers, strips of lean steak, green onions, garlic, mushrooms & & a little light soy sauce with whole grain rice for supper. Then I had a little cantaloupe for dessert, oh and a handful of almonds when I got home from work. It is better than it has been. I'll get there. Not sure all this product info is going to post right but here goes. Mexican Casserole Bowl Organic white corn masa, black beans, sweet golden corn, olives, tomatoes and a careful blend of chili peppers and spices. I'm going to use these up & get back to cooking. They are just my go to stuff when I don't have time. And I have not been having time. It is very hard to find gluten free things. I know, I just have to cook.

I have an uncle that drank way too much, smoked way too much, and had a minor drug issue. He's almost 70. He went in to the hospital for a problem with his heart. He's almost out of money, he's unhealthy, he feels like crap, but he's not almost dead. Of the many things he said, the biggest one was: "If I'd have known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself".

Yes, sometimes those who take care of themselves die young & those who do all the wrong things live long. Life is not always fair like that. Some things we have no control over. My mother never smoked, only had the occasional social drink and ate/lived a pretty healthy lifestyle. She was maybe a little over weight at some points in her life but never obese. Around her mid 60's she suddenly started feeling tired & with little warning had to have triple bipass surgery with no history of any heart problems. While in that surgery they acidentallly punctured one of her lungs. She recooperated but the lung injury set her up to be more susseptable to getting future lung problems. Several years again with little more than feeling tired & easily winded she was suddenly diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. We later learned that her home (that I grew up in) had Radon. We lost her just a couple of months later.
I cannot do anything about things I have no control over, but I can take what precautions I can to prevent problems. I tested my house for Radon & encourage others to do the same. I have a life scan (torso) every couple of years & chest x-rays annually. I am trying to live an even more healthy lifestyle than she did & learning what I can. In that way I honor her and do what I can to avoid the same fate. I may be in a car accident tomorrow (knock on wood) but I can still be careful to avoid one. I am still going to have as much fun as I can every day. I am not going to go to extremes & eat only tasteless & un-enjoyable foods, avoid everything dangerous (impossible anyway) and be paranoid. But I do want to be as healthy as I can & feel & look as good as I can for as long as I can while still enjoying life. That said, I did not get up & do my exercizing this morning as planned. For some reason, I could not get to sleep last night. Sleep is also important to health & safety. I will just have to do more when I get home. I will also try to be active as much as I can at work. I tried extending my laptop holder up to stand but it is too unsteady to be able to use effectively that way. I brought left-overs from last night's supper for lunch but will still have to rely on my bars & home made cookies for in-between until I can have time to cook something better. I will do some hall walking as I get time today.

Well the getting up early to exercise thing is just not working so far. I can't manage to get to bed early enough. By the time I get home it is 6 to 6:30. Then I eat supper, wash my face, change clothes, do whatever computer work & home chores I have to do & it is late. I already have to get up between 5 & 6:00 AM to get off to work on time. I just can't & shouldn't try to function on less than 6 hrs sleep. Anyone figured out how to add more than 24 hrs to your day? I am gradually eating better & adding some activity to my day. Best I can do for now. I'll keep trying to get to bed earlier so I can get up to exercise. Maybe I can do it occasionally but clearly it is not going to be a routine thing. This evening hubby & I plan to try to make it to a little local cruise-in. If we make it I will have to detail Ruby when we get there. That is a bit if a workout. Hope we can manage it. I need the comradery. I'm feeling a bit depressed lately & that is sure not helping.

The biggest issue I anticipate with that is finding a routine that will work with all my personal issues including but not limited to: something I can do in the limited space of my toy house, that won't shake the whole house & something that I can do given my weak wrists & knees. Just one more reason I need a class to go to. I will look though.

Here's a suggestion, bring out your inner child, spend under $10.00 on a jump rope. You'll need very little space, you don't have to jump high and you can do HIIT with it. You may think it's a joke but belive me it can be an intense work out. I'm sure you can google HIIT with a jump rope and find workouts already designed. Try it then tell me how easy it is. Lol |
