Hehe, dyslexia at it's best.

These threads are entertaining regardless of forum but in the end, I have a lot of respect for passionate and loyal owners of their rides; regardless of the maker.

As long as they don't let their "passion" get in the way of actual FACTS.

"ZF design" means ZF develops it, NOT Dearborn.

Who, besides GM, develops AND manufactures their own Automatics with enough capability to play in this realm?

Ya so don't see what I posted was wrong, Ford will need a better trans to have a High HP Auto.

Ford DID NOT have a Auto Trans to put behind the GT500 so they only offered it in Stick.

Who cares if a company designs their own or buys the rights to them?

If that is what the argument has come down to that means it is basically impotent.

The basic design of the Tremec 6060 was shared between the Challenger R/T, SRT8, Viper, Camaro, Vette and GT500

It'll be an auto.

The race for multi-gear automatic transmissions is well underway because they are getting very efficient. GM and Ford did a joint transmission build investment about a year or two ago so you'll see the 9 and 10-speeds from them sometime in 2015+. Chrysler-Fiat got the jump on this as they started a little sooner with this investment.

It's a sign of a company's TOTAL engineering capabilities, from the past AND present, which indicates the potential for its future.

GM, through their former Hydra-Matic Division that's now a part of GM Powertrain, has a l-o-n-g story of success. You may recall Rolls Royce sourced GM Hydromatics for their vehicles, until the Germans bought them out. They even found their way into LINCOLNS.

TOTAL capabilities, in-house, allows a company to FULLY design their vehicles with a TOTAL ability. Not half-azzed and dependent on the abilities (or lack thereof) of OTHERS.

Not even M-B makes their own self-designed transmissions.

FACT

I don't agree with your OPINION. I think the reason they outsource parts is because of cost. R&D is $$$. For example, Mahle makes pistons for some car companies...nothing wrong with a reputable company making parts that would otherwise be of questionable quality. Also, Manley supplies rods for some car maufacturers. Nothing wrong with that either. No car company makes 100% of its parts...not even GM. So does that mean GM is lacking in potential by your standards?
