Who cares if a company designs their own or buys the rights to them?
If that is what the argument has come down to that means it is basically impotent. The basic design of the Tremec 6060 was shared between the Challenger R/T, SRT8, Viper, Camaro, Vette and GT500 |

The race for multi-gear automatic transmissions is well underway because they are getting very efficient. GM and Ford did a joint transmission build investment about a year or two ago so you'll see the 9 and 10-speeds from them sometime in 2015+. Chrysler-Fiat got the jump on this as they started a little sooner with this investment.
