Your lean mass is 185-48 for 136 lbs. Again, that would put you at 0% body fat. If your goal over three months is to lose 15 pounds, which is very easily attainable, that will bring you down to about 18%. 20 pounds would bring you to around 15%. This is, of course, assuming absolutely no loss of muscle, and that you are not currently over or under hydrated. And again, I can't stress this enough, these are close but approximate figures. As for your diet, go with CFD's information. Eating twice a day is not really that great, but mostly because people who eat less often throughout the day tend to overeat when they do. Also, I would recommend starting at about 1800 calories a day for a couple weeks (you don't even need to exercise) and see what happens. Your body needs a little bit to adjust to a new diet. You can adjust as needed after your weight loss "settles out". You'll lose little to nothing at first (or at least I do), and then you might lose a whole bunch all at once. Weight yourself first thing in the morning, on the same day, ONCE per week. Before eating, before fluids, before anything else. Do it in your birthday suit right before you hop in the shower for example. This will keep some of the variables out of your tracking. Stay away from your fried foods. Stay away from fast food if possible. There are healthy options at certain fast food places. Learn what they are. Obviously they are not as healthy (generally) as home cooked meals, but there are acceptible foods. Nutrional information is available for almost every food place. Start a log, or spreadsheet, or something, and track what you're putting into your body. I promise, it will open your eyes

I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone that wants to lose weight....and it can really be no harder than this.... 1. Learn how to eat, know what to consume, and eat 6-7 times a day....don't make excuses... 2. Take fiber, 2x a day, and I personally believe in colon cleansing. 3. Do cardio...but don't just go through the motions...everything you have, every time and keep a log and constantly improve. 4. Lift free weights....and again...don't just go through the motions...everything you have, every time and keep a log and constantly improve.

I think she started in powerlifting then transitioned into bb. And she still competes in lifting competitions. I'll try to find her name, she's still in the top echelon. |

Good advice. It's funny how some people think if you weigh within a certain window, like someone who is 5'10" and weighs 150 Lbs, is lean when in fact they can easily have a bf of 30%. It's all about what you eat! I worked with a guy 5'10" 150/60 and his bf was super high. If you grabbed his arm it felt like a sponge. Like you were pressing a marshmallow. He had very very little muscle. Checked hubby's log book, he's doing pretty good, bf has dropped another percent, and yet his weight has stayed the same. His muscle weight went up also, about two pounds. Bravo! Proud of him, I know he's really trying. But I told him "Do Not Get Below 18%". That's too lean, I don't want to feel like Im hugging an Erection! LOL |

He wishes, she's a Beast! Doesn't she squat in the 8s? I'll have to talk to hubby, although he no longer works w/the kids dad. Tried to see if he had any YouTube vids posted, but I couldn't find any. Figured he'd have her name listed. Oh well, I'll post it when I find it. The kid still isn't sure what he wants to do, loves football, but he's only like 5'8" or so. Last thing I read about him he was training for the discus and shut put throw. At 17 he's got plenty of time to decide. |

I hear ya, it's also pretty crazy the amount of calories needed to maintain a lean body. A 150 Lbs man w/30% BF needs less than 2,000 cals a day to maintain, yet a 150 man w/12% BF will need over 3,000 cals a day to maintain their weight. Fat burns almost zero cals vs muscle. |

Seeing this thread needs a good bump I thought I'd post this. It's a long read so I'll just put the link. It's about the effect on fats and resistance training, written by Will Brink, for those who haven't heard of him he is the owner of Body Building Revealed and the Brink Zone.
