New here, with a cool project being planned

Hey guys, I've been reading here on and off for a bit now and I've learned quite a few things already I do not currently own a Camaro, but I will be purchasing one in the near future for a project. After riding in (and driving) my friend's 2014 1LE I am simply in love with the cars and I always have to be different of course...

Anyway, down to the details... The plan is to order a base model 2015 Camaro (a custom color is strongly prefered, but I'm not certain on GM's ability to do that anymore), no options and get it to my shop with as few miles as possible on it. Then I will be pulling the engine/transmission out and swapping in a 2006 Duramax/Allison. Plans are to run a parallel twin turbo setup and an adequately built transmission of course. 700hp should be attainable without major work, and without loosing any drivability. Keeping all the gauges functional, and everything as stock, or stock appearing as possible is a must. Of course I plan on improving handling as much as I can, as I would like to take this on a road course when it's all done.

I know there will be a lot of hurdles to clear, but I enjoy a challenge and I've always wanted to work with a brand spanking new vehicle. I'll be sure to start a build thread the day I order the car, which I'm thinking of in the spring.

Just curious, why buy a 2015 for the swap?

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks very much for the warm welcome guys I have Been around a handful of other forums for a while, but I do appreciate the heads up.

Suprslo, I guess I am not 100% set on a 2015, just that by the time I order I may not be able to get the 2014 model I figured.

Also I don't know if anyone goes to the GM Powertrain plant show in St. Catherines, but I've been there the past 3 years, tons of new Camaros there all the time.
