The name SS is confusing so perhaps a move into another direction would be better. Like Pontiac did with G8 or Caddy did with CTS, ATS...

I'm talking about the next generation. Holden will only be building cars for two more years which means the SS will no longer be built in Australia on an Australian platform. The next gen SS will be a clean sheet design which means they can make it look like a Chevelle and not repeat the GTO fiasco.

The Chevelle is supposed to be larger than the Camaro so it makes no sense to replace the Camaro with the Chevelle. Chevy is more than capable of doing both, especially if the Chevelle is built as a two and four door.

This thread, and it's previous companion, are living proof that, in this gotta-have-it-NOW! world we live in, if you present a compelling product, the nameplate is secondary to the vehicle's perception. You can call it the CrapCan SuperDeluxe (or anything else!) and certain forces can take over and SUDDENLY, like Pavlov's Dog, we NEED it...NOW!

That's called "viral marketing", and this is a bright shiny example of such...

But...without an essence of compelling attribute(s), the heap of hype can die a sudden death with the announcement of the "next BIG thing"...and 'net jockeys and their slobbering soliloquys DON'T necessarily translate into purchases at their local dealers.

The other thing to keep in mind is that naming something, from the distant past, has little effect if there isn't a direct correlation in Product. To many, a chevelle is a miss-spelt French horse...only. And "retro" is on life support...

Wow! These cars are really bugging you. Guess what? You're describing the Z/28 and what GM is doing with the Camaro too. They all do it. The difference here is that people can actually afford these cars and they are going to build more of them. You wouldn't be saying non of this if these were GM products.

No, but why the concentration of Mopar HYPE on a Camaro-based site? This isn't happening on Ford sites, or Mustang sites, but it's happening HERE. motorhead, if I was genuinely interested in the CARS, instead of TWEAKING people's noses, I'd be on a MOPAR SITE seeking Mopar info, not HERE. To do that here, and to continue to do that here for 80-some pages combined, has a clear name...

Non, you're right mon ami...I'd go to a Mopar site and create 80+ pages of steaming heaps of hype...NOT!
