Another update...this one's from Automotive News, not sure how accurate it is...

Fate of Tahoe/Yukon uncertain...may be redesigned in 2013/2014 along with the rest of GM's full size truck/SUV fleet or dropped from the lineup and replaced by the Lambda crossovers...Suburban/Yukon XL will live on...

Lambda-based pickup might replace Avalanche...Avalanche slated to be killed in 2013 due to poor sales...

Colorado/Canyon being developed in Brazil, no word on NA models, may move production to NA, import trucks from Brazil, or drop out of the market altogether...

Dropping the Tahoe/Yukon makes sense. Interior room on Lambda vehicles is bigger than the truck-based SUVs. If they can improve towing capacity a bit there shouldn't be much utility lost.

I fail to see the point of the Avalanche, Lambda based or not.

On the other hand, I see the Colorado being far more important as gas prices climb. I can't imagine why they'd want to bow out of the segment.

Old, expensive (ever wonder why it wasn't used outside of Cadillac?), heavy, and not near as flexible as Zeta. Generally speaking, Zeta is superior in every way except for refinement, which is probably why Caddy isn't totally Zeta based. But it seems Alpha has been moved up...A LOT (last time I heard it wasn't due til the end of the decade)...so that means Camaro has a platform to refresh on.

Kind of got off topic there...

Again, I can't help but say I'm VERY excited for 2010 NAIAS!!!

From Car and Driver's preview of GM's design studio today...

We were also shown a Buick-ized version of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan. It appears to be longer than the Cruze and looks nothing like it. Front-end styling is similar to that of the new LaCrosse, while the overall package is reminiscent of that car and the Insignia, but with fewer interesting character lines and graphics.
Well that settles that.

One more update before I go to bed...

GMC Acadia Denali in the works...small GMC crossover also being developed...barely any details on this.

Next-gen Malibu apparently will have some Camaro styling cues especially in the rear end...

I found this update second-hand....

C7 Corvette to begin production in April of 2012.

I don't have a subscription to Automotive news, so I can't verify it...

I'm going to have to see these cars and know some specs before I can say yay or nay on them. As far as the XTS goes, it doesn't need to be RWD to be a flagship model for Cadillac but it needs to be near perfect otherwise if it wants to compete with the Germans. It would be easier to accept a FWD Buick flagship since Buicks compete more directly with the Japanesse than Cadillac does.

Isn't Zeta derived from Sigma?

It might be...supposedly Zeta and Sigma came out of the same RWD project, but Cadillac started taking it more upmarket, so it split between Cadillac (who developed Sigma) and Holden (who developed Zeta).

No pics yet, but people who have seen it all say that it's light years ahead of anything in the market today.

That's how you kill your competition, introduce new, better models before they can.

True, but it's just weird because the newest gen has only been around for 2 years... Just don't think it's time for a makeover just yet

And it'll be sticking around until 2011. The current Malibu is a good one, make no mistake, but it does have several faults and disadvantages, one being the lack of a navigation screen, an issue corrected in the EpII Malibu.
