Honoring Factory Warranty When Car Driven on Track?
I know Chevy has said, and put it into print, that they will warranty certain cars if driven on the track/drag strip (Obviously not in competitive events). Our ZL1s are one of these cars. It took balls and faith in the quality of it's product for Chevy to do that. It was part of my buying decision. Kudos to GM.
I know Ford and Nissan void your warranty if you track your car. I understand it from a business sense, but it is hypocritical to build a "race car" and then not let buyers stretch it's legs at a track. BMW doesn't say one way or another about track work, but they really push their track abilities. I never had problems with them honoring a repair, despite the fact that I tracked my M3s. Has Dodge said anything about how they plan to handle the Hellcat's warranty and driving on a track?

With their reliability I don't think that would be a smart idea.

I got rid of my Evo because Mitsubishi was being stupid about warranty issues on cars that were tracked.

GM could do it with the ZL1 do to the ridiculous testing. Like the 600 launches on the manuals. Also the 24 hours of testing. They tried to break things so we wouldn't.

I have a tire pressure sensor on the fritz and I can promise you that my local dealer will change it under warranty no questions asked. Doesn't matter that the performance log shows the car has been over 200mph. Now if a a whole bunch of them started going out he may ask me to use a different wheel without the sensors when I'm going over 200. Point is they know very well what I do with my car and like it when I bring it around so they can talk about it.

Here is the 2014 SRT warranty. The 2015 is not on the Dodge site yet. I asked the same question a few weeks back and it got really quiet.

In fact, this reminds me of all the Police Agencies across the country that ordered Dodge Chargers. Since Chevy and Ford didn't have V-8 powered sedans at the the time they ordered, many Police Departments were forced to get Dodges. I know many many departments have complained about the quality of the Dodge and the amount of repairs they have to make on the car. I forget all the police departments that this covered, but I know first hand from family that are cops in NYC and Montgomery Co, MD. Both said that the Charger has been a poor replacement for the Crown Vic. The only upside is the HP that is offered in the modern Dodge. http://www.northwestgeorgianews.com/...a4bcf6878.html http://wreg.com/2014/07/17/blown-eng...h-one-cruiser/ http://www.dailyherald.com/article/2...ews/706059973/

I had a Charger rental car last week in Texas. My feelings mirror the officer in the first article.

The Hellcat hasn't been officially announced for that long now. Remember when the ZL1 was announced, it did take awhile before they said that they would cover track use under their warranty. Not saying Dodge will or will not do the same but I imagine if they do plan to cover it then it would also be awhile before announcing it.

I wonder if the 275 tires were put on due to drive train concerns. I know there's not a lot of room for a huge tire in the challenger, but that car needs more tire stock.

Ford said their warrant stuff on the new mustang in a bunch of cryptic ways and back tracked themselves. Basically ford said you can track the car, but you can't "race" the car. So test n tune on a solo pass ok, test n tune with a car in the other lane not ok.
At least GM was a bit more clear on theirs |
