He bitches and moans about a car he hasn't driven. That alone discredits his opinion to me.
Just because the car isn't breaking track records in the foreseeable future doesn't mean its going to handle like absolute dick. Seriously, he compared it to a Viper and an unreleased Z06...two cars that weigh significantly less and cost significantly more...no shit they handle better and are better balanced machines... The tipping point was when he started in on how it's scary it can be had for 60k. I assume he was scared shitless as well when Ford released a car that's on par in a straight line for 5 thousand fewer dollars....

Reminder 95% of the drivers will never see a twisty track, nor will they care too. Remember my very unscientific check in the ZL1 forum here where it took me to 12 pages to find any mention of track discussion but there were 25+ posts in regards to straightline performance. Nobody cares other than for the reading entertainment value. If the 1LEs and Z/28s are so great why are they not moving off of the dealer lots, or if purchased they are quickly being put up for sale?

So according to him..
Hellcat: Hasn't driven it, says it is stupid and a pig. C7 Z06: No one outside of General Motors has driven one, says it the god of handling. He cites unnamed "friends" as the sources of his information and does not use any empirical, instrumented data. This crap wouldn't even path muster in a college freshman University seminar writing class. Uninformed garbage written by an unskilled hack |

They couldnt have because then the price would have gone up substantially.
People are starting to realize this as well, now that magazine times are coming out and no ones been able to replicate the time Dodge has been using to market the car. The closest so far is a 11.4 by Edmunds, which was generated by the "in-car performance center" and not actually clocked by the track or a GPS. |

The 1LE is a great car for the money, Z/28 is special too, but a lot of you don't get it. I don't drive a Challenger, but I get it.... The car is everything the Camaro and Mustang aren't. A better daily driver and overall more practical car. Room for four and a better ride. I'm certain across the board mpg is competitive. The 11' GT and 1LE won their battles, but this has always been true. Since Dodge brought the car back it's been universally recognized as the most authentic classic car you can by. Overtime that sinks in and the Dodge is selling more than ever. |

My feelings aren't hurt. Simply stating that comparing a 60,000 dollar muscle car to a 90,000 dollar supercar-performing sports car seems like a pretty retarded way to make a point when trying to explain why you think a particular car is stupid and unnecessary.

I honestly can't see how it could handle much better with a ten year old platform that was originally built for comfort.
For me however, it will handle plenty good enough for the street and have enough power terrorize the neighborhood. It's that what muscles cars are all about anyhow. Back in my day I can't remember anyone blowing smoke about how well their car handled. Only we cared about was how quickly a car would go. |

Sorry autoblog editor reminds me of a nanny he would have everyone in diapers and with a bingki.
Thats why I want one. I can not go back to 1970 but the challenger is the closest to how true muscle cars were back in the early 70's. My camaro nor the new mustang look like vintage muscle but the challenger does.

I took the authors intent as it being dumb to build a 707 HP "meat ship" and price it at a level where it will trickle down to those that will attempt to use it on the street. Maybe with deadly consequences.
If that happens we will all pay in the form of higher insurance and bad publicity that could cause the manufactures to pull back to more modest power levels. Also, I've noticed that largely those claiming handling doesn't matter drive 5+ year old base GT's, SS or are on the meat ship waiting list.
