when you have to compare a sports car to a muscle car to keep up with it. It really sounds like dodge did a good job on the hellcat.

Agree. The Hellcat's claimed ETs sound theoretical. Using the ZR1 and the calculated ET illustrates that. Electronics erasing a 1 lb/HP disadvantage.

Before the 392's and this new hellcat dodge had to pretty much bring a Viper to fight its battles if they needed a car mid 12's or better didn't they?

Dodge didn’t want to get into that same issue so they took the extra step of getting their claims NHRA certified. Now the accusations come from the group that the NHRA was paid off, Dodge brought a tuned car to the test, it will never happen again. How many reviewers of the car have already stated after driving this car that they have no problem with Dodge’s claims when the car is actually run on a prepared strip. Others say that the Hellcat wasn’t as fast as the GT500 in the motor trend initial test. Different days, different times, and different tracks cannot be taken into consideration.

No. I was pointing out the NHRA et matches the calculated (theoretical). Feel free to use Viper et rather than ZR1. I'm new to cars at this power level so I only was making reference point to cars that have run similar times.

It's one giant leap for mankind. Video of the run and slip would be cool to see rather than the Gas Monkey deal.

No. They posted video showing the ZL1 was capable of 11's stock in both automatic and manual form. The all day long remark was referring to the dependability of the car being able to launch repeatedly and take the drive-line abuse which was a concern when the SS was released - people braking half-shafts due to wheel hop. "We're excited and we're proud of the fact that this car with basically no modification, will come out here and do this, and run it all day long, and we're going to drive them home. Couldn't be happier." Now if you inferred incorrectly that "it" referred to 11's rather than "the strip", that is your fault. No need to make libelous statements though. Read the entire sentence in context. He is speaking to the durability and livability of the car. To paraphrase, we brought stock cars to the strip, ran them all day long and can drive them home at the end of the day. Quote:

Having been at Woodburn in 0-500 ft DA conditions and having seen STOCK L99's, 5.7 R/T's and 5.0's run half a second faster than the "internet" and car magazines say they should I can promise you that there our way to many conditions, both mechanical and environmental, that prevent a accurate prediction or comparison of runs.
One example: 2009/2010 5.7 Challengers running within a tenth or two of 2009 And 2010 6.1SRT challengers despite being 50 horsepower down on paper. Why? Because the 5.7 put down more torque lower in the rpm range then the 6.1. This helps overcome the inertial mass and helped acceleration. Past the 8Th mile the SRT does pass the Rt. Dodge Hemi Motors have very flat torque curves, and the Hellcat motor puts out 411wheel torque right off of idle, and goes up from there right across the rpm range. That is essentially an eraser to the weight disadvantage the Hellcat suffers against the Camaro. Strap a stock Hellcat, ZL1 and 5.8 GT 500 on the same dyno in the same conditions, compare the power curves and I think you will see why the hell cat runs so fast |
