I've done this, too. Otherwise, it all depends on my mood and what gun I'm carrying. Sometimes I'll have it in the glove box or in the center console (if it'll fit). Other times, it'll be IWB or OWB at about 3:30-4:00 position. If it's anywhere but on my waist, it's always in some type of pocket holster. The Uncle Mike's are cheap and work pretty well.

Those holsters that attach underneath the steering wheel look slick, but I think I'd have to attach/unattach it whenever I left the car. I wouldn't want someone looking inside, seeing an empty holster and trying to break in.

Umm, moved to firearms section?

In mASSachusetts you can't drive with a box cutter in the trunk so all this is lost on me

A complete joke. The application went in the trash, but I saved my non- refundable $300 roll of the dice.
So Glad I don't live there and glad I live here where all we have to do is go online watch a video and then take the test after the video and pass it and then bam take it to the courthouse then they mail it too you all said and done pretty easy too and cheap.

Congratulations! Molon Labe! In the state of Maryland no such luck. We have to give our cars away during a carjacking, even if we have a child in the car.

If I could, I would set up some magnetic type set up. I know they sell them, but I forget where. I'd keep either my S&W M&P 9c or S&W J frame .357 magnum (sucks to shoot, but 357 makes criminals think twice) somewhere attached to the center console. With a thin leather holster you may be able to get the magnet to still stick through the holster. In Wisconsin, I used to keep the LCR 357 in a DeSantis Nemisis pocket holster. The magnet would hold well through that and you could through it in a pants pocket and it doesn't print at all. Good luck.

EDIT: Something like this:

Be aware that now you are a CCW holder, everytime you get pulled over, the LEO know it when they run you plate. Get in the habit of putting your hands palm up on the wheel when they walk up and ask for license and registration. They assume a weapon is on board and are on high alert. Sad because if you can get a CCW you should be their least problem.

First words out of your mouth if you should ever be pulled over while carrying:
"Hello officer, I have a legal firearm in the car and I have a CCW in my possession."

They should also be in the habit of placing their CCW permit on top of their drivers license. Even though they may already know it, it shows a bit of respect.

In the state of Texas it's required that you present the chl with your drivers license every time while carrying...the instructors will tell you to show it even if you aren't....this of course is after you do tell them that you're carrying a "firearm" because they tend to get a little antsy when you say GUN...and to those who think I shouldn't be talking about this freely...I'm talking about this because it's legal and it's an honest question...don't act like we live in a civilized world
