Totaled my Explorer...sad now....

Well...they say misery loves company so I came to post about totaling my 1998 Ford Explorer I loved that thing

The story goes, it was raining off and on all day and I decided to go out for a pizza. About five miles out from my house I took a turn at 60mph ran over a large stick with my back tire started to slide off the road. Jerked the wheel too fast started to slide over to the left. Went into the ditch head on((still sliding to the left my front was just facing the ditch)). Front left side smashed into the roots of a tree and flipped me. Flipped three times before stopping upside down in the ditch. Unbuckled my seat belt and crawled out of the drivers side window.

The last picture is my only injury besides a bruise from the seat belt, and a sore neck...

I'm going to miss that vehicle

Now I have to figure out what to do about a vehicle, I'd buy a Camaro, but I'm just a semi-poor college student who can't afford it

On a side note, Sony makes some great products, my PSP which was laying on my center console works perfectly fine except for a few scratches on it, found it wedged between the dash board on the drivers side and the door frame...

Ouch. Glad you're alright man. I can attest to how freaky it can be, Explorers being as unstable as they are. I was lucky enough to evade such an accident back in January. But the important thing is that you're alive and got away with a small cut and a few bruises.

So how much did the insurance give you for the wreck? Retail or Trade value? Either way you probably got jipped big time. They may hold up well to abuse but the trade value will drive ya mad..

Just take it easy and watch that neck. Too bad you can't clunker it now.. :/

Well, if I went with my personality, either something older than 1975((because I can think of a lot of those I like)) or something newer than 2005((because I can't think of anything in between those I like, my problem is I'm not able to go over $10,000/9000 for one

Well, nothing yet, they want to "come out and determine how much it will be to repair it"

and, nope, clunkers must be "in drivable condition"

Yes, yes I do a lot, my problem is I don't know a great deal about cars((I was never really into them until the new camaro came out, I feel for it and my interest in cars has kinda branched out from that in the last year and half))
So if its something that needed work I don't know how I'd fair with it

That would be greatly appreciated.

Although I don't know if my parents would go for a choice like this, being unexpected my parents are paying for part of it and I'm using the money I had started to save up for a Camaro in the future, so they have a good deal of say in my choice

..*lightbulb*

Cobalt. I think there are tax incentives out there and with GM grad you can get a good discount. I've driven one and they are pretty nice. Coming from an explorer I didn't feel jipped at all. Of course I was driving the 5spd so..

Look into a G5 GT. Found a relatively cheap used 08 for 11.5 with under 16K miles and it was pretty slick compared to my explorer. If I could do it I'd try to swing it but not in this day and age.
