Back in the 50s, a GM designer on his lunch break walked by Chrysler engineering and saw their prototypes sitting in the middle of a parking lot. He got his coworkers to run over and look at them as well and promptly scrapped all the GM designs for that year and started from scratch. That doesn't exactly work in today's world but you still don't want to let the competition see what you're planning and give them a head start.

Yeah Mustang numbers are very disappointing. The EcoBoost looks interesting but the V6 and V8 are almost laughable.

I have no idea how someone looks at those spy shots and thinks, "Yep, that's a Chevrolet SS, not a Camaro."

It was interesting on Mad Men when the firm was trying to win the GM contact for Camaro. They had to advertise for a car they have never seen.

i don't think they ever said it was the Camaro did they? They went to GM HQ and the 1968 Corvette was sitting there and they said it was a new 1969 model i think.

They never said it was the Camaro because they were never told what the car was, but if you pay attention they talk about researching the mustang so they could win the bid.

yeah he couldn't drive stick. but they kept acting like it was an all new car that was coming out the next year. at that point the Camaro would have already been out at least a year and a half. i started thinking well what all new car came out in 1970? the Vega?
