Al O is the engineer. He has to work with what GM gives him. I am betting, right now, the Camaro that gets the LT4 will not make anywhere near 650 horsepower. Getting a trademark on the L88 badge doesn't necessarily mean anything. Chevelle was trademarked the same time and I don't see a new Chevelle coming along. |

I'd at like to think GM will at least match the Vette in the HP department with its lt4 variant Camaro. We know historically they hold the Vette up on a pedestal, but maybe and just maybe this time around they play ball.

Trademark for the L88 was done in 13. Timing makes it reasonable to think this will be affixed to the C7 ZR1.

The 1LE should have gotten the Grand Sport version of the LS3 but it didn't. Why? Because GM isn't going to build the best Camaro possible. They are going to build the best Camaro they can without encroaching on the Corvette. |

Putting the dry sump LS3 into the 1LE would have required quite a bit of engineering. It's improvements, as with all past 1LE, were suspension related

Dry sump engines are a recent development for GM cars, as far as I know. The 1LE should have gotten the dry sump LS3. |

I took it away but you apparently missed it.I have no idea what your saying about the 1LE. You do know it is an option on the SS, right?

. Development of the ZL1 began in 2009. The goal was to answer the 2009 GT500 that made 500HP and cost $47,950. Assume GM knew the upcoming 2010 GT500 would make 550 HP and cost $48,175.Available engines* were the LSA ($11,210) and LS9 ($20,410). Delta $9,200. Chevy chose the less expensive LSA but increased its power to 580 HP. When the ZL1 was introduced at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2011 with a base price of $54,995, it surpassed the GT500 on both the strip and track but was expensive. You argue that Chevy protected the Corvette by withholding the LS9 yet they introduced key C7 Corvette technology on the Camaro first. - ZL1 introduced Gen3 magnetic ride control. - Z/28 co-developed carbon ceramic brakes with the Corvette team and introduced them ahead of the C7 Z06 I would like a LS9 ZL1 too but recognize that given its standard content, it would have pushed the base price into the 60's. That didn't meet the market conditions AT THAT TIME. Ford was ready and one upped them in 2013 but doesn't mean they made it weak to protect the Corvette * Prices listed are for crate engines on Pace Performance. The LSA (19260164) is the 556 HP version. LS9 (19260165)

Why not match it. If BMW can have a 4-door M3 and a 2-door M4, why Can't Chevy have a two seat sports car in the Vette and a 4 seat sports car in the Camaro? My only thought is the Vette, heck American two seat sports cars couldn't survive the lost sales. Look at the Viper, and the fact Ford has never really seen fit to produce a Corvette equivalent...hmmmmm.
