Yup, and the $40,000 Core will whoop it even more. Your point? The SS needs an update. More power, more something. It has great styling and is a great all around performer, but its 3rd place now when it was on top. While the Z28 is undeniably the most badass Camaro to ever roam the streets from the factory, its price point puts it out of reach of the normal buyers looking at the bread and butter cars. The SS is losing in the straights and the turns now and Chevy doesnt really seem to care. That or they have been putting all their focus on the Z and the Vette. Maybe now that they are underway, they will circle back around and take care of the needs of the bulk of their customers. |

That's simply amazing and major credit goes to Dodge for stepping up big time for making this car. I love my car, but this is what Chevy should have done with the ZL1. It would pay tribute to it's real heritage.

Best $3500 option on the market. However, the 1.71% (1400 units sold 2013) take rate on the 1LE sure isnt setting any sales records. ![]() I can understand why the Mustang sales are down, everyone is getting ready for the mystery number GT production to start. Doesnt matter what the specs are, it will be faster and handle better than the SS. The Challenger has always lagged in sales vs. the Mustang and the Camaro, but it has a much higher take rate on V8 cars vs. the Camaro. For the Challenger, V8 cars have outsold the V6 cars every single year except for 2012 where 1800 or so more V6 cars were sold than V8's. Remember, more V6 Auto Camaros are sold than all V8 Camaros combined. The ZL1 and Z28's outstanding marketing and reviews are driving the sales despite their very low sales numbers. Perfect marketing strategy if you ask me. That 2016 platform update for the SS cant happen fast enough. When it does, the SS will not only lead sales, but it will likely be kind of the hill again in its market segment. Then in 2017-2018 when the LC gets its new lighter/smaller chassis it will take the lead again. Then Ford will leapfrog again. Isnt it great! |

For 2013 Dodge Challenger, Charger, 300 Brampton plant units sold Canada n US
Charger 102924 Challenger 52976 300 63099 Production 218999 2013 model year from the same platform same Brampton Plant so I would think the platform and plant are at almost full capacity Brampton also produces the 300 right hand drive for Europe add in Europe and Misc. total production for 2013 was 244771 I think Dodge is selling more RWD cars than Chevy at this time, for 2013 Chevy Camaro 80k Vette 17k SS 418 Last edited by rocket403; 07-12-2014 at 12:59 AM. |

Checking out the video a few more times and just watching this car launch is a thing of beauty. No 5000-rpm driveline killing antics, no wheel hop, no sideways hook and go. The car looks like it is sitting there at 1000-rpms, nails the gas on green no wheel-spin, it just launches and goes perfectly straight. Why would you need bigger DRs than the 275s it would only slow you down. If anything the car would benefit from lightweight wheels and skinnies out front.

1st mods you do to the Hellcat are all weight reduction....15" wheel setup , lightweight exhaust parts, CF driveshaft if not already there , then pull the swaybar and seats for a racing bucket and go low 10's

Camaro 46,672 YTD Challenger 26,281 YTD Corvette 17,744 YTD Viper 354 YTD Impala 78,499 YTD SS 1,662 YTD Charger 49,767 YTD 300 26,014 YTD It doesn't take a RWD car to outsell Dodge in the full size segment. The Impala does it with ease. Camaro and Corvette are simply out of Dodge's league. But at least Jeep is doing well. Quote:
Remember when the ZL1 debuted: Chevy engineers ran a stock ZL1 at the drag strip and ran the car in the 11-second range with both the automatic and manual transmissions. http://wot.motortrend.com/stock-2012...#ixzz37G1ayYUf Then the reviews came out and we get low 12's which is where the vast majority of ZL1's perform. Car&Driver: 0-60, 4.1sec; 1/4mile 12.3 @ 119mph MotorTrend: 0-60, 3.8sec; 1/4mile 12.1 @ 117.4mph Edmunds: 0-60, 4.1sec, 1/4mile 12.4 @ 116.0mph Road&Track: 0-60, 3.9sec, 1/4mile 12.1 @ 119.9mph This is why I will wait for independent reviewers to get their hands on the car. This is what enthusiasts were hoping for. Not just a monster engine dropped in an outdated platform. The 'Cuda or whatever they were hinting at recently would be the game changer. 15" rims dont fit the rear of the Challenger due to the Brembos. 17's barely fit on the older ones. Some people do convert them to the V6 calipers, but those are for the really hardcore guys. The rear seat delete and pulling the front seat is @ 100#'s of weight. The passenger seat is around 60#'s as well
