Just some more food for thought

"The new Hellcat Challenger's performance figures are so mind-bogglingly massive that they eclipse the Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, 2015 Corvette Z06, and SRT's own Viper"

All I saw were HP/TQ numbers. Where are the performance numbers?

I haven't seen anything yet I would think they will let it out soon, get everyone interested then slowly let out bits here and there, to keep everyone talking about the car

I cant see Dodge coming out with this buildup to the Hellcat to just say well here it does 11.5 in the 1/4

Challenger Hellcat...Holy C**P

The Challenger SRT Hellcat will have an eight speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. It will be competing against cars like General Motors (GM)' Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with its 580 horsepower V8 and the 662 horsepower Ford (F) Shelby GT500 which recently went out of production. A Ford spokesman wouldn't comment on its competitors car, but a new Shelby GT500 with, potentially, more power is expected to be revealed some time soon.

A General Motors spokesman indicated that that automaker has no plans to try to approach the Hellcat's horsepower output, at least in a Camaro. GM has already unveiled a version of the Corvette two-seat sports car, the Z06, with a 650 horsepower engine.

Because owners might not want to trust just anyone with 707 horsepower, the SRT Hellcat will come with two key separate "keyless ignition" key fobs to start the car. A red key fob will enable the driver to use the Hellcat's full power potential while drivers given the black key fob will only be able to unleash up to 500 horsepower.

Nope. That was in 2009 with a 2010 ACR.
http://www.motortrend.com/features/l...cr_laguna_lap/

The 2008 Viper ACR ran a 1:35.12. Same year the C6 ZR1 was introduced. ZR1 ran 1:35.8 that year. Neck and neck.

Half a decade = 2 years? The 2012 Z06 ran 1:34.43, half a second off of the 2010 ACR.

You left out the piss poor time by the 2013 Viper GTS - 1:35.8 - from a car that costs $15,000 more than the outgoing ZR1.

2008 ACR 1:35.12
2009 ZR1 1:35.83
2010 ACR 1:33.92
2012 Z06 1:34.43
2013 GTS 1:35.77 lol
2013 ZR1 1:33.70
2013 TA 1:33.62

What was the ONLY difference between the 2013 and 2009 ZR1? Pilot Sport Cup vs PS2's respectively. No changes to the drivetrain, aerodynamics, suspension, nothing.
By contrast, the TA underwent a host of changes just to keep up with the Corvette.

"Equipped with lighter, stiffer parts swapped in to ready it for racing. Two-mode Bilstein Damptronic dampers get firmer settings and a lesser gap between modes than in the Viper GTS. The springs and anti-roll bars are tuned for stiffness, more camber is dialed in for more even tire temperatures, and there's a new X-brace across the front structure made of carbon fiber. A new front splitter and rear spoiler tweak the airflow. The Brembo rotors have more swept area. The tires are Pirelli P Zero Corsas."

The TA beat the 2013 ZR1, marginally, but hey, a win is a win and the Viper remains at the top as the fasted production car at Laguna Seca.
You're right, a win is a win. Sadly, it is a win against a 5+y/o car with a brand new C7 Z06 on the way. Everyone, including potential buyers recognize this.

Crush. Hahhahaaa thanks for the laugh. Viper is struggling against an outdated platform as it is. The base C7 was only 0.7 seconds slower around Willow Springs than the +160hp, +$65,000 Viper.

2013 GT500 MSRP was: $54,995
All this tells us is that the 2012 GT500 was overpriced.

I'm too busy laughing at all the Dodge fans excited about the worlds slowest 700hp production car. Dodge built another great engine. The question remains, did they build a great car? Throwing HP at an overweight, dated platform may get fanboys aroused, but can Dodge build a better car? God knows they desperately need the sales.

Two interesting things about this video . He stated the car will be the fastest ( not quickest ) muscle car ever. Stange if he doesn't know the difference while standing on a drag strip or maybe he actually meant it will top the gt500 claim of over 200 mph top speed.
The other thing is the video of the car fading out at the end instead of showing a time. Why not show the time?Either way it's a nice effort on the part of dodge to join the muscle car war. Not sure if forty plus hp can overcome carrying an extra 500lbs to win the acceleration title from the gt500.

Interesting comment within this article. http://money.cnn.com/2014/07/02/auto...html?hpt=hp_c3

Like it or not, you have to admit, we are living in a true Golden Age of performance vehicles. Every manufacturer is bringing their A Game and I for one am loving it. We'll see if the Hellcat can actually channel all those horses around an actual corner but in the meantime, let's celebrate American Muscle for it brings out the best in all of us and will certainly encourage Chevy Leadership to continue to deliver their best work.

Please check to make sure that there isn't already a thread covering a topic before you make a new thread.

Of course not in the Camaro. The Camaro would be lucky to get the full potential of the LT4.
