Here's the GS pay scale: http://www.opm.gov/oca/09tables/pdf/gs.pdf

What gets me is what happened to COMSEC

As for the mandatory military service question, I think it should be mandatory Federal service. You could join the military or work for some federal department or agency, but everyone should server their Country.

I almost want to agree with you, but based on the amount of sh!t b@gs Ive dealt with that actually made it in the military, if everyone had to serve, I dont know if it would do any good.

But seriously, As a Desert Storm vet, it pisses me off too.

when i saw this thread, first it was like ...

then after reading further, i that up.

this thread was started to simply explain how dumb it is to pose as service member to look cool. it ain't the place to go throwing around your personal opinions about another country's political policies & then arguing with other people about how right you are or wrong they are.

end rant

say what ever you want about the military and the living, but leave anything about those who passed away out of it, thats people's family, friends and loved ones. you have your right to run your mouth on the net because of them.

If you have a problem with what were doing take it up with Barack Obama, not the soldiers doing their Jobs. So if everyone was like you, and talked everyone else out of joining, then we would have no military, then when (insert anyone you choose here) is knocking down our doors what would you do? Well I can see that your one of the people that would duck behind a couch and wait for someone else to step up and do something.

Take a deep breath ya'll, it's all good. Even McArthur said, the day that nobody argues against a war is the day we lose our morality. I too have spent more than a year in various 3rd world sh*tholes away from my family and I understand that no matter what happens there will always be folks who will insult me for defending them. That too comes with the job.

So, who has gone into the garage as of late just to make sure it's not really a dream and that the car is still there?

Wow!! first, I do have an issue with punks trying to pose as Military, or Military trying to pose as Special Forces (i.e. Seals, SF, ect).

I do know a Navy Seal, he was an ordinary looking guy, just tough and smart.

I met him back in 92, when I went through Chief's Initiation.

I spent 26 years in the Navy and Navy Reserve, and retired in 07 as a SCPO. Senior Chief. I was a CT.

Currently, I work on an AF base and interact with all 5 branches on a daily basis.

For those that think the men and women of the Armed forces are Sheep or in it for only the Money.... Well, you are Wrong!!! Yes, just like anything, there are folks that are not happy nor do they want to do this kind of work. That is fine.

But I can easily tell you, Most of these fine young men and women are hard working intelligent people that are in it for lots of reasons. And they sacrifice a lot of things so they can defend this country.

As for having a large Military all over the world, yes, that is needed. I would explain to you why, but it will take too long, and you will still just disagree. Having only a Defensive force is the quickest way to lose your freedoms.

You may not like it, but a Strong military is extremely important to defend the freedoms of that countries peoples, as well as the will of that country.
Speak Free, live Free, and have a chance at a great life.

Yup, I am proud to have served, and will always be.

And to the Men and women serving today, I say "THANK YOU!"
I know what you have to deal with.

God Bless America!

In my experience the truly bad ass ex military only tell funny stories and on occasion you might overhear some of the badass stuff they did if they've had a few drinks and talking with fellow old badass vets. The rest are usually posers

every division needs a good Senior Chief

I agree with TOMCAT, it dosent make a difference if you're an Airman in Turkey refueling jets, a recruit swabbing decks during a med run, a bubblehead punching holes in the ocean for half the year, or a private in your first tour in some god forsaken sand blasted hell hole. We know first hand the sacrifices made to defend the freedoms that so many take for granted. Yeah, you've got people who really dont want to be in the military once they're in...they usually find their way out, and I wouldnt want them in the fleet anyway. The rest have enough self respect to do their jobs to the best of their ability untill their enlistment is up. For everyone else serving for what ever reason I say thank you for standing the watch, so that we all may sleep!
