Last time Thomson's without uv protection so this time "Floods" clear with uv protection. Only trouble I have with it is it is tacky for a week or so then you have to pressure was before you seal next time. I never use paint.

I have never found an outdoor wood sealer that I liked or lasted. I just gave up and used a solid color stain on my deck and porch swing. Even then I have to reapply them every 2 or 3 years. It may be part of the harsh winters we get here. My deck can be covered in snow for weeks at a time in the winter.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I missed C5F5 this year. Hope to make it next year. I made it to my first Indy 500 this year. Highly recommended. I'll never view Indy car the same on TV again. I had same reaction after my first NFL game. I really think Indy car, NASCAR and NFL transitions to HDTV very well. Super Chevy Show here at Gateway entire weekend. Wishing you all a safe and happy summer. Keep driving!

Thanks for popping in stlrammer. Don't be such a stranger.
Dang Midlife, Powerwash! Never thought about that. Got to be a lot easier than sanding what is left of the old finish off. I'll have to try that. Yeah, Zandron, we haven't had any luck finding anything that stays put for the chairs or the deck. We are getting ready to try that new stuff, This: ![]() on the deck. I even considered trying it on the chairs too. Don't know if it will be any better or not but getting tired of working hard to refinish stuff for it to just look like crap in a year or 2 again. I had another fairly busy day but managed to get all my notes done. Tomorrow I have to go to a different county to testify for one of my clients to try to prevent her good-for-nothing dad who cares nothing about her but just does not want to pay child support, from ripping her works apart. She had never had a stable home or care until her grandmother dot custody & even had her sister taken away from her for a while. She is finally starting to make progress. Surely the judge will not rip her our of this home. Then my Friday in the local office & it will be he weekend!!! My dad seems to be doing okay back at the assisted living facility. I'm glad of that & I'm sure he is glad to be back "home". I need to turn in early so I can get up early, get all dressed up in my serious-as-a-heart-attack suit & get ready for my testimony. It is always nerve racking but I will do fine, I always do. Good night crew.

Hi gang!
Our deck dimensions disagreement has been resolved. The deck gets poured tomorrow, and possibly some other things will happen tomorrow too. I doubt the pool will be done my the 4th, but one can only hope. Claire and I will make, hopefully, the last 70+ mile trip to Chandler Regional for her, hopefully, last check up on her ankle. She's getting around pretty well using a cane. Along with PT, she is doing quite well. She went shopping at Target today and said she moved kind of slow through the store. Slow is better than not at all. It'll be good to have things back to normal around here. The Camaro and Chevelle have sat for 3-4 weeks.

Hey crew. Court testimony is over & it seemed to go well. Mike decided to drive me up & see one of his clients that lives up this way while I was in court. He did some research on the deck product posted above. & decided against it. Bad reviews. I guess there is no good solution short of rebuilding the deck using that plastic composite material stuff. That is not happening any time soon.

Been stressed to pull myself together and file my FBAR (foreign financial accounts) e-file, deadline June 30. A few weeks ago US embassy here in Ottawa asked me to participate in a Web Seminar, I did, received a certificate for participating. This is not an IRS thing (so they say), but another layer of government documentation to document any US expat that has offshore financial accounts.
I am a US expat (US citizen living aboard), officially a card carrying permanent resident of Canada, file my USA, IRS tax forms yearly for income earned abroad. I know the drill and pay my accountant about $400 a year just to file my tax documents to the USA, IRS and never have owed taxes on earned income abroad. Understand this new requirement by US government is to track US citizens with offshore accounts. Not just individuals but corporations. Tracking money laundering, etc. But damn, I report all my financial stuff to the IRS, but still have to file another separate complex doc. to the US. Bottom line, after weeks of stress, taking an on-line government prep course, today was the day I was prepared to e-file to FBAR and expected to spend hours to fill out the document. Then I pulled my 2013 tax documents as I remembered I had sent all account numbers and account $ to my accountant, because that stuff was required for her to file both my Canada & USA tax documents. Damn, I am lame. My accountant had already filed my FBAR documents on-line and I paid her to do it. Weeks of stress thinking about filing FBAR, it was already filed and I paid my account to have it filed. I admit I am stupid when it comes to taxes etc. Not filled out my own tax documents for 30 years but pay for others do it for me. I am so happy today, financial tax documents complete for another tax year. Wonder at times why I keep my US citizenship. Been in Canada for more than ten years, a card carrying Permanent Resident. Canada is now my home, do not intend moving back to the US because I have job, financial security, healthcare security in Canada. Could become a Canada citizen in a nano-second. Issue is US makes it very difficult and expensive to give up citizenship. As a US expat living abroad, to retain my income earned abroad tax deferment, during a 12 month period I can only be in the US about 28 days a year. As a Canadian citizen I could spend about 6 months a year in the US. My most personal family and friends are in the US and we are getting older. I worry what if my brother or a good friend in the US needs me to help them. Not an issue if I needed to take a year leave of absence form my teaching position. However, if I retain my US citizenship I currently can only be in the US for 28 days. If I extend my stay, the IRS will hit me up for a third of my income and Canada already hits me up for about 40% of my income. Bottom line I could spend more time with family and friends in the US if I changed citizenship to Canada. Have not done it yet because US makes it both difficult and expensive to change citizenship. Sorry to go on and on. |

Life can really be complicated huh? My mother-in-law is a German citizen yet has lived in the US for the better part of the last 40 years & has been here solidly for the last 30 some odd years. She does not ever plan to go back to Germany and has to go periodically to get a new green card even though she is married to a retired military member. She can't vote though she would like to, but it is just easier to get another green card than to become a US citizen & give up German citizenship that it is just not worth it.

Wow, lots to 4 end tonight.
![]() Pool builder made baby steps today by filling in the PVC pipe trench with sand. No one came to pour the deck today. Guess they meant next Thursday.

Congrats Norm!
Good Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiday Morning. I really need me some weekend. Or a new job. Maybe just a new life. That is the kind of mood I have been in lately. I spent a little time on line last evening looking around at jobs adds. That is a frustrating proposition. At this point the only thing keeping me at my job is inertia. it is just to hard to change jobs. I keep thinking about this thing I saw on Facebook that said "I have wanted to run away more as an adult than I ever did as a child". True that. Anyway. HAGD all.

Congrats! 44 Years! Holy Cow. Just realized you sent me a msg, thanks for the driving info! Much appreciated. Lobster Hut! Love that Fishermans Platter for two. Delicious. But since I'm not a true New Englander, I order "clam strips" not whole Bellies" which true New Englanders find insulting. LOL |
