Just put in an order at autogeek during their 15% off sale. The code is FD15 and I think it lasts until 8pm tomorrow. Also free shipping with orders above $150.
Mostly a replenishing order. Gallon of Meg's d120 glass cleaner Gallon of Meg's d103 APC 20 pack of black nitrile gloves. And full sized blackfire midnight sun paste wax. I just love how easy it goes on and comes off! And finally I'm stepping up into the big boy game... A speedy surface prep towel

Oh and thanks for the tip on the LED, been working on the car the whole day and have the the front fascia, hood and driver side done. Tomorrow I will do the roof, rear and passenger side abd seal it up. Here's a before and after picture of my rear fender. I'm not going for 100% as there are some deeper ones that don't really want to come out. Sent from my HTC One_M8 |

I have to ask this question guys because I simply haven't researched it , and don't have a plausible way to research it myself.
Matt and jtruck say waxes don't layer. Roshan an replied to a thread I posted on saying waxing once a month would cause cloudiness because of over waxing, but if waxes don't later how is that plausible. How do you know waxes do not layer? Did you do a paint depth reading, wax, then do another reading and see no difference? I don't know of any other way to come to that conclusion. Just using logic I don't see how waxes wouldn't layer. You are not disturbing the existing wax by using significantly more pressure than you would use with multiple washings and dryings. I am not arguing either way, I am simply trying to better understand. Many things in science that make logical since end of being wrong. many of my hypotheses in my experiments have been completely wrong, so do not think I am imbedded in my logic. I just need some form of actual data as to what actually makes waxes layer or not layer.

... layer away... it can be done if all the stars align... not much to be gained really... the problem is that "most" waxes have solvents that will strip or partially strip the previous layers...clouding.. for depth I wax over a good sealant... if you use Adams do it the other way around

From what I can remember, I can do some more digging if you like:
Todd from autopia did do an experiment with this and measured the thickness. In some cases layering one additional layer showed improvement, but anything more than that was more detrimental because of chemical stuff (don't ask me what) and friction. That was in some cases not all. As of right now the majority of what I have read about this is that it is accepted that rewaxing helps ensure you didn't miss any spots (which I think is hard to do in the first place). In my mind when it comes down to science, I really break it down to elementary thinking. To me sealants are more rugged and form stronger bonds with one another which is why you can later them. Again, to me, waxes are weak in the sense of bonding especially when it comes from a paste form, layering is like stirring up a slurry of the stuff. That's what goes on in my mind. ![]() Hopefully Matt can elaborate better.
