565 miles on a tank of gas
Please don't hate me because I don't drive my Corvette the way many on this forum feel it should be driven. My wife and I enjoy using the car for touring or a nice extended drive on a Sunday to the Jersey Shore.
One thing that continues to amaze me is the fuel efficiency, especially on the highway. Keeping it under 70 MPH we consistently get 35 MPG in ECO mode. On one 50 mile stretch, we got 38.5. WOW!!!! |

As I just goy my C7 about 3 weeks ago, gas mileage is not on the agenda. I am driving my C7 very enthusiastically and have yet to put it in Eco mode. I keep the NPP and Rev Matching on and wind up and down the gears at speed like playing a spirited fiddle. Speed & Sound (S&S) not gas mileage is my driving objective. However, I am fairly sure I am getting at least 17 MPG. Right now, I'm not out to break any C7 gas mileage records, and perhaps some day I actually may care, but now is not then.

I find I use the ECO mode only on the highway, where I've had as high as 34.2 mpg. More local driving I keep in Tour or Sport, where I regularly hit the upper 20's, even with some spirited time mixed in. Next week I head out on a 1600 mile round trip to visit my parents - it will be the longest drive yet and I'm curious to see what I can hit.

So Why does GM/Chevy not give this MPG a higher profile?
Hi all,
I too have gotten 31-32.5 MPG on the highway, even with AFM turned off. Why do they not brag more about 460HP, 0-60 in under 4.0 secs and awesome MPG to boot! |

I generally don't get that great of gas mileage, even in ECO mode. When I'm going 70-75 everywhere, it seems like it is on V8 mode in ECO just as often as it is in V4.

A lot of the V4-V8 switching relates to engine load. I find that if I'm in hilly areas, I actually get better mileage if I stay in Tour - no switching at all (7sp manual) and I can better judge what gear to be in. Same goes if I have to constantly adjust speed in heavier traffic, even if said traffic is rolling at high speeds. Those with automatics may want to try Weather or Sport to keep it from back & forth switching. Also try using cruise control whenever possible. You always get a little better mileage if you can keep engine speeds consistent.

I drive in Sport exclusively. If not too hilly, at 70-75 often get 29 or so. Lots of hills decrease that somewhat. I too do not obsess about mileage. Drive it the way you like to.

I just completed a 3700 mile trip. Some interstate in ECO and a lot of spirited driving in SPORT on the Pacific costal hwy. 101. Trip average was 27.4 mpg. I took the Ron Fellows performance two day course for us new C7 owners. Great experience!!!
