They never said the GT would be 200 lbs lighter. They just said the new Mustang would weigh as much as 200 lbs less. I.E. the Eco boost option probably does weigh less. That's marketing for you, spin the info however you want.

I agree with it being bad for competition but it is way too late in the game for GM to be making changes to the weight. If they were going to make a more affordable platform with more weight the performance would suffer and I don't think they would be willing to do that. If the Mustang weights are true that would give GM a chance to really stick it to them.

Yup , it's like when a commercial says that you can get a camaro for 25,000 , but it's not saying which trim! So you can get a new camaro for 25,000 but it's only a certain trim!

you mean like advertising your car is track ready, but if you do it it voids your warranty?

GM has been losing the Pony car war since 2011.

Ford's not gonna let it be slower because they are increasing the HP, my guess it will run about the same or possibly slightly better. |

No official word here. I don't see how this is "news". It may gain, it may lose, regardless it should perform better. I'm still waiting for the Official Ford release.
Not that I plan on buying a Ford branded S550 platformed car, I just like to stay knowledgeable about what's prowling the streets. Quote:
Overall performance? Seems like a draw to me. Sales? Sure, but that would require you admitting that the 4th gen Mustang also "lead" Camaro for the entire generation.

I have my Terminator to mod for power and racing duty if I so please. So my next purchase will be something to just enjoy, which is why I'm waiting to see what Lincoln does with S550. "MKR" might just fit the bill for what I will be in the market for.
