I have a few manuals but they are only good for rough starting points on powder charges. You have to do load development to find the bullet and powder charge your rifles/handgun likes.


As for the price, hand gun ammo won't be much cheaper but match grade rifle ammo will be. I started loading because I have an M1 Garand and it needs a specific load to keep from damaging the op rod. Then I picked up a .30-06 bolt rifle and match .30-06 is basically non existent.

How long did it take you to feel like you were very efficient with it? I'm under the assumption that load development takes quite a bit of time, and other tools to make sure the developed round is performing like you want. I've only ever browsed that sight, but I'll take your recommendation and start reading around.

Honestly, I've only loaded a few hundred rounds. Most of that was for my Garand. I wasn't worried at all because I found the load in book specifically for Garands. They have all fired and ejected fine and are pretty accurate. I haven't had much time to do load development for my .30-06 bolt action yet but I will over summer. Just take your time and measure the powder charge carefully and then measure the length of your loaded round every so often. I found people shooting .30-06 with similar bullet weights and used their data as a starting point. Just reduce it by 10% and then do the ladder test to find the load that works for you.

Just finished my AR build from scratch. Just need to go shooting now. Weighs in at 7.4lbs but that's not on a postal scale so I'll need to double check the weight. And I put my XDS .45 (my carry pistol) and my CPX-2 9mm in the photo just cuz

Has anyone painted a weapon with Duracoat or Cerakote? Opinions? Especially in high wear areas. I'm going to camo a 1911 and a rifle, maybe a shotgun as well.

I have my Barrett M95, Saiga 12, FAL and an old model 11 all cerakoted and there is some wear on the sliding surfaces but they're lube points anyway so I don't worry about it. It's good stuff since it doesn't peel and chemicals don't hurt it.

A note you should know though is if you do the barrel you should use air cure and not heat cure, the air cure has a higher temp rating for some reason.

Peeling rather than slowly wearing down to metal is my #1 concern... good to know thanks
