On the Sonic forum, "For me, this is my midlife crisis car, only I'm both frugal and a little on the hippie side, so instead of a Camero I got a little red econobox and turned it into a little sleeper sportscar.

Okay, I am going to ask you guys this question, because I am fired up about it.

So I am over on my yorkie site and a mailman killed a Yorkie because it "attacked" him. The people over there were standing up for the mailman because it was his right to protect himself by killing the dog. I was like a little Yorkie I think killing is a little extreme. Then they said well many he is terrified of dogs. I said maybe he should find a different career to work in and then the people came out attacking me saying it isn't fair to ask him to switch career because he doesn't like dogs.

Then someone said well my mailman opened the door to our neighbors house and got attacked by the dog and he is now scared of dogs. The had to get rid of the dog because it attacked.

I responded why hell would your mailman opened the door to a house? I think if someone opens the door to your house and your dog attacks that is fail game on the dogs part.

Didn't get a response back

I thought, with all of the historical precedents, that it was considered a bad idea for postal workers to carry. I'm of course assuming that he shot the dog. Because if he killed it with his bare hands then he was technically brawling with the Yorkie. In which case a lethal outcome would have been acceptable if the Yorkie had him by the throat or was otherwise threatening the postal workers life to the extent that no means other than killing would have ceased the altercation. But seriously who the hell can't subdue a YORKIE!?! Was he bleeding out from a near-fatal ankle bite or something?

He hit the 7 lb yorkie on the hit with a rock and according to the report he didn't have a scratch or bite on him.

They said the dog was bleeding from the eyes and it head was bashed in.

and from you bolded part. Yeah really.

IMHO he over reacted to the extreme extent. you can run back to the mail truck and leave or kick it away. because of this man, someone's family is without a family member because he killed it. and if anyone enters my house and complains because a 120 lb and a 70 lb golden retriever went after their ass I'll laugh. my house, my dogs, and they were doing their job by protecting what is mine. there has been incidents where mail men have left open gates and the dog has gone missing. its the old stereotype of dog vs mailman. and everyone knows about it! if you are scared of dogs don't become a postal worker. that's like not being able to swim and being a life guard!

That is what I am saying. Once again why are postal workers going behind closed gates? I thought mailboxes had to be out in the open.

I made the same comment about water. I hate water.

I wonder if he's terrified of dogs, or if his lawyer told him that he is. An excuse that flimsy just reeks of a lawyer.

That is what I am saying, who becomes comes a postal worker when they are terrified of dogs.

The HR person in me said, why would someone work in that situation if they are afraid everyday of their life. They said for the money, I am sorry for no amount of money would I become a lifeguard. Maybe at a pool, but not in the ocean.

I wonder if court if he will have to proved that he was terrified of dogs before the incident. It also seems odd that he has no marking from the "attack" on him.

Hopefully the dog doesn't have any bites in it's record because that A-hole needs a solid reprimand. Dogs aren't just animals, that's a family member he killed.

Nope it said that dog never attacked anyone, or so the owners say.

Now I am wondering if the mail carrier has a record in his personnel file about him getting attacked by a dog or being terrified of dogs. Then that would help his case in court.

But if he reported it then I am sure he would have had training on how to handle the situation better or they would have transferred him to a different job where he wouldn't have to come in contact with his fear.
