Bet you didn't know that's illegal. VIN must be visible for law enforcement to see if they choose. Suppose your car fits the description of a stolen car. Officer observes a covered VIN guess what they're going to assume... Must be this one, they covered the VIN. Also if they want to confirm the plates/registration match the vehicle.
